Dansby Swanson homered twice and drove in four runs while Mike Tauchman also went the distance and tallied four RBI.
Jeimer Candelario went four-for-five, scoring two runs in his first game since the Cubs got him in a trade with Washington Monday.
The Cubs finished with seven home runs which matches a record for the team from 1977.
The Cubs are now within four games of Cincinnati, the National League Central leader.
The Minnesota Twins snapped a five-game losing streak by edging the St. Louis Cardinals, 3-2 Tuesday.
Donovan Solano hit a two-run single in the seventh that broke the 2-2 tie.
The Cardinals are now 47-61 on the season and 11 1/2 games back of league-leading Cincinnati in the Central Division.
Minnesota leads the American League Central Division with a 55-53 record.
