Chad Green is back.

After undergoing Tommy John surgery to reconstruct the UCL in his right elbow back in 2022, he has returned to pitch for the Toronto Blue Jays farm team, the Low-A Dunedin Blue Jays.

He returned Saturday and threw one inning of scoreless ball. Of the 10 pitches he tossed, eight were for strikes. He averaged around 94.5 miles per hour.

Green ended the 2022 season with a 3.00 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 16:5 K:BB with a save and a 1-1 record in 14 relief appearances.

Green, an Effingham High School graduate, was selected by the Blue Jays in the 37th round out of high school but did not sign. After three years, he was drafted by the Detroit Tigers and then traded to the New York Yankees.

He made his Major League debut in 2016. He made 12 appearances on the mound, eight as a starter and had a 4.73 ERA. The next season, the Yankees moved Green to the bullpen where he had a 2.96 ERA and made over 260 appearances between 2017 and 2022.

But that came to a halt in 2022 in June when he had to undergo surgery. The Yankees opted to let Green go to free agency and that's when the Blue Jays picked up his contract.

Green was slated by the Blue Jays to head to their minor league and was on track to return near the end of July which he did with his appearance Saturday.
