Effingham Beats Centralia In Baseball

The game was tied at 2-2 with the Hearts batting in the bottom of the eighth. Camden Raddatz hit a solo home run for the game-winner.
Centralia took a 2-1 lead in the third inning and Effingham, not only came back to tie the score in the bottom of the seventhm, but won it in the eighth.
John Harper grounded out, scoring the tying run in the seventh.
The Hearts finished with seven hits in the contest led by Raddatz with a single, home run and an RBI. Harper had a single and an RBI while Kaiden Nichols had two singles. Quest Hull and Myles Maxedon had a single each.
Kaden Koeberlein started the game on the mound for the Hearts. He went four innings, allowing two runs on five hits and striking out three. Andrew Donaldson came on to throw one inning, allowing one walk and Hull went an inning, allowing two walks and striking out two. The game-winner was Harper who finished two innings, allowing no runs on one hit and striking out three.
Effingham finished the regular season and will be in regional action at the Class 3A Olney Regional Thursday. EHS drew the No. 3 seed and will face No. 5 Charleston at 4 p.m.
Mattoon won the opener Monday by blanking Olney, 10-0. Wednesday's game will feature No. 2 Marion against No. 6 Mattoon at 4 p.m. The championship is scheduled for Saturday at 11 a.m.
