T-town, Newton, S. Central Nab Baseball Regional Titles; EHS Splits Weekend Wins

The Wildcats edged out to a 1-0 lead in the second inning but T-town came right back to knot the score in the third, then moved ahead with three runs in the fourth.
The Wooden Shoes had eight hits led by Evan Waldhoff with two singles and Logan Roepke and Conner Siemer a single and an RBI each.
Logan Lawson threw a five-hitter with one walk and six strikeouts.
The Wooden Shoes (17-15) advance to the Breese Central Sectional Wednesday and will take on Glen Carbon Father McGivney at 4:30 p.m.
In the other contest Thursday, Newton faces Columbia at 3 p.m.
The championship game is scheduled for Saturday at 11 a.m. with the winner advancing to the Carbondale (SIU) Super-Sectional Monday.

Class 2A Newton Regional
Newton got to claim a regional championship in front of the home crowd Saturday.
The Eagles defeated Paris, 8-2 behind a 10-hit attack. The score was knotted at 2-2 after three innings. The Eagles then went on a four-run surge in the fourth and finished out with two in the sixth.
Newton did not get an extra base hit but came up with 10 in the contest. Isaac Flowers had two singles and three RBI while Owen Mahaffey had two singles and two RBI. Carder Reich had two singles while Gus Bierman had a single and two RBI and Marc Jansen a single and an RBI.
Brandon Einhorn went the distance on the mound, allowing two runs on five hits, one walk and striking out two.
Newton advances to face Columbia Thursday at 3 p.m. in the Breese Central Sectional.
In the opener Wednesday, Teutopolis takes on Glen Carbon Father McGivney at 4:30.
The winners advance to the championship game Saturday at 11 a.m.

At Kinmundy
South Central struck early and went on for a 4-1 victory over Dieterich to win the Class 1A South Central Regional championship Saturday.
The Cougars tallied a run in the second, two in the third and finished with one in the fifth. Dieterich's lone run came in the sixth.
Aidan Dodson threw a one-hitter with 10 strikeouts. He allowed five walks.
Dodson also was on offensively with three singles. Andrew Magnus, Ethan Watwood and C. Smith had a single and an RBI each. Anthony Buonaura added an RBI.
Dieterich's lone hit came off the bat of Noah Dill with a single.
The Cougars advance to the Altamont Sectional where they will square off against Arcola at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. In the second contest, St. Anthony takes on Casey-Westfield at 6:30. The winner will advance to the Carbondale (SIU) Super-Sectional next Monday for a 10 a.m. contest.

At Effingham
Effingham sailed to an easy 11-1 victory over Bethalto Civic Memorial in Friday action.
The Hearts got things moving in the first inning. Camden Raddatz's sacrifice fly scored one run for the Hearts. The squad then put up five runs in the fourth with John Harper and Quest Hull garnering walks each and Kaden Koeberlein banging out a single.
Josh McDevitt went five innings on the mound, allowing one hit and one run while striking out nine.
The Hearts racked up eight hits led by John Harper with a single, double and an RBI, Max Seachrst with two singles, Evan Waymoth with a double and Koeberlein with a single and two RBI.
In junior varsity play, the Hearts fell to Bethalto, 5-2.
Effingham held a 2-1 tie until the fourth when Bethalto tied the score then moved ahead with a run in the fifth and tacked on two in the sixth.
EHS had six hits led by Max Flack with two singles and two RBI.
In Saturday play, the Hearts outhit Centralia by a 6-5 count but fell 4-3 in varsity action.
Centralia stepped out to a 2-0 first inning lead and led 4-2 after four. The Hearts came back in the seventh with a run but fell short.
Harper went two-for-four at the plate with two singles. Seachrist had a double and two RBI while Raddatz and Hull had a double each.
Effingham finishes the regular season today playing host to Centralia.
The Hearts begin regional play at the Class 3A Olney Regional Thursday. The No. 3 Hearts will take on No. 5 Charleston at 4 p.m.
The regional begins today with Olney against Mattoon at 4:30. In Wednesday play, Marion will face the winner of the first game at 4 p.m.
The regional championship is scheduled for Saturday at 11 a.m.
