ALTAMONT 8, WINDSOR/STEW-STRAS 5

Two of the top area high school baseball teams battled Saturday, with Altamont defeating Windsor/Stew-Stras 8-5. 

Each team scored twice in the first inning, but Altamont then scored three times in the second and once in the third to lead 6-2. Altamont then scored twice in the fifth to make it 8-2. The Hatchets scored in the sixth to make it 8-3, then scored twice in the seventh, but Altamont still posted the three-run win. 

Avery Jahraus pitched two innings for Altamont, allowing two runs, one earned, on two hits, walking three and striking out two. Wyatt Phillips went three innings, allowing no hits on three hits and no walks while fanning one. Eli Miller threw 1-1/3 innings, allowing three runs on three hits and three walks with one strikeout. Nathan Stuemke got the last two outs, walking one.

Carter Chaney pitched 1-1/3 innings for WSS, giving up three runs, two earned, on three hits, walking two and fanning one. Connor Manhart went three innings, giving up three runs on four hits and two walks while striking out two. Tyler Wetherell pitched the final 2-2/3 innings, walking one and striking out one.

TEUTOPOLIS 6, WILLIAMSVILLE 5

Teutopolis broke a scoreless tie with two runs in the sixth, but Williamsville tied the game in the seventh; Williamsville scored three times to move ahead 5-2 in the eighth, but the Shoes scored four times in the bottom of the eighth to claim the win.

Carter Hoene pitched six innings for the Shoes, allowing one run on five hits, walking two and fanning two. Kremer pitched the final two innings and got the win, allowing four runs, but just one earned, on four hits and four walks, while striking out two.

Teutopolis finished the regular season with a 14-15 record, while Williamsville fell to 22-5.
