Bulldogs, Bobcats, Indians, Cardinals Claim Baseball Victories

Effingham St. Anthony tallied a 5-2 victory over Neoga in high school baseball action Wednesday.

The Indians edged out to a 1-0 first inning lead. St. Anthony tied in the third then moved ahead 3-1 in the fourth. Neoga pulled back within 3-2 in the fifth but the Bulldogs sealed the victory with two runs in the sixth.

Both teams had eight hits. St. Anthony was led by Brock Jansen with a double and three RBI, Will Hoene with two singles and an RBI and Aiden Lauritzen with two singles.

Sam Link came on in the third inning and went 2.1 innings for the win on the mound. He allowed one run on three hits, one walk and struck out three.

Neoga was led in hitting by Ryan Koester and Micah Staszak with two singles each, Malachi Staszak with a single and two RBI and Trey Sheehan with a double.

At St. Elmo

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City came calling and picked up a 4-2 win over Brownstown/St. Elmo Wednesday.

CHBC took a 3-0 lead in the third inning and tacked on another run in the fourth. BSE's single runs came in the fifth and seventh.

The Bobcats had four hits, all singles off the bats of Clayton Wojcik, Carson Evans, Wyatt Rueff and Kaidyn Calame. Rueff added an RBI.

BSE had seven hits. Caleb Campbell had a triple while Adam Atwood and Wyatt Forbes had two singles each. Kyle Behl had an RBI. The Bombers dropped to 10-9 on the season and are back in action today against Wayne City/Webber.

At St. Elmo

At Altamont

Altamont was on a roll, scoring a 15-0 win over Dieterich in four innings Wednesday.

The Indians stepped out to a 4-0 first inning lead then tallied seven in the third and ended the contest with four more in the fourth.

Jared Hammer threw a one-hitter with three walks while striking out six.

Altamont had seven hits and were aided by three Dieterich errors.

Kaidyn Miller had a triple and drove in three runs while Wyatt Phillips had  a double, Nathan Shepard two singles and three RBI, Hammer, Carter Siebert and Logan Cornett a single and an RBI each.

Dieterich's hit came off the bat of Noah Dill with a single.

At Altamont

At Louisville

North Clay (Louisville) grabbed a 12-2 win over Casey-Westfield Wednesday.

The Cardinals improved to 17-8 on the season and are back in action today at Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City.

 

At Kinmundy

South Central broke a 2-2 tie after three innings with a run in the fifth. Salem moved ahead by a 4-3 count in the top of the sixth 

The Cougars then had a five run bottom of the sixth to lead 8-4. But Salem wasn't done yet. The Wildcats tallied six in the top of the seventh to pull out a 10-8 win.

South Central had 11 hits led by Aidan Dodson with a double, home run and three RBI, Anthony Buonaura and Maddox Robb with two singles and an RBI each and Colton Smith with two singles. Chase Thompson and Zane Montes had a single and an RBI each.
