EHS Downs T-town, St. A, Newton, WSS, Neoga Nab Baseball Wins

Effingham High School handed Teutopolis a 7-4 loss in high school baseball action heard on KJ Country 102.3 Monday.

Teutopolis got on board in the first inning when Garrett Gaddis singled on an 0-1 count, scoring two runs.

Effingham came back with a run in the bottom of the second and pulled away for good with two runs in the third. Myles Maxedon doubled on an 0-1 count, scoring the two runs.

The Hearts held a 6-2 lead before the Wooden Shoes tallied again in the top of the sixth with a run and finished out with a run in the seventh.

EHS had a slight 9-8 lead in hits. Camden Raddatz had a single and triple while Maxedon had a double and two RBI and Evan Waymoth a double and an RBI. Kaden Koeberlein finished with two singles and an RBI and Spencer Fox added a single and an RBI.

Koeberlein went three innings for the win, allowing two runs on four hits, one walk and striking out two. Andrew Donaldson came on to toss the final four innings, allowing two runs on four hits, one walk and two strikeouts.

Teutopolis was led by Bennet Thompson with three singles, Connor Siemer with two singles, Gaddis with a single and two RBI and Caleb Siemr with a single and an RBI.

The Wooden Shoes fell to 9-11 on the season while Effingham evened its record at 11-11.

In junior varsity play, Teutopolis blanked Effingham by a 10-0 count in five innings.

The Shoes held a 1-0 lead in the second then tallied six in the third and finished with three in the fourth.

M. Niebrugge, J. Kreke and A. Borries all had a double and two RBI each for the Shoes. C. Hoene had two singles and two RBI while A. Kremer had a single and an RBI.

Effingham's two hits were singles by E. Jones and B. Tucker.

At Louisville

Effingham St. Anthony put this contest away in four innings over North Clay/Clay City Monday.

The Bulldogs ran out to an 11-1 opening inning lead and tallied 10 in the second and finished with three in the fourth for a 24-4 victory.

St. Anthony pounded out 19 hits in the contest, five of those home runs. Beau Adams had a single, two home runs and five RBI while Brock Fearday had two singles, a home run and four RBI. Connor Roepke finished with a single, home run and three RBI and Eli Levitt a single and a solo home run. Brock Jansen had a single, triple and four RBI, Ryan Schmidt a single, double and four RBI and Will Hoene three singles.

North Clay/Clay City had eight hits led by Alex Boose with a single, home run and one RBI, Logan Fleener with a single, double and an RBI, Ian Jones two singles and an RBI, Ben Czyzewski a double and Jesse Weidner a single and an RBI.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg improved to 14-4 on the season with a 6-1 win over Brownstown/St. Elmo Monday.

The Hatchets edged out to a 1-0 first inning lead. BSE tied in the top of the fifth but WSS came back with two runs in the bottom of the frame and finished out with three in the sixth.

Windsor/Stew-Stras had 10 hits in the contest led by Austin Wittenberg with three singles, Tyler Wetherell and Ben Bridges with two singles each and Rhett Rincker with a triple.

Rhett Rincker picked up the pitching win, going all seven innings, allowing seven hits, one walk and striking out seven.

BSE was led by Adam Atwood with two singles and a triple and Jarrett Pasley with a single and an RBI. BSE dropped to 10-8 on the season.

At Strasburg

Paris edged ahead in the top of the second with a run but Newton came back with a vengeance in the bottom of the frame with 12 runs and went on for a 14-2 win in five innings Monday.

The Eagles had 11 hits. Gage Reynolds and Max Meinhart had a double each. Meinhart added two RBI. Isaac Flowers had two singles and an RBI. Carder Reich and Gary Lweis had a single and two RBI each.

Meinhart went the five innings on the mound, allowing two runs on six hits, one walk and striking out six.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City moved ahead with a run in the second but Flora came back with two in the third and had three-run innings in the fourth and sixth for an 8-2 win Monday.

CHBC outhit Flora by a 5-4 count. Gage Lorton had a solo home run while Clayton Wojcik had two doubles.

Flora had four hits led by Atwood with two triples and Young with a single and two RBI.

At Ramsey

Neoga took a 3-0 opening inning lead and went on to outlast Ramsey by an 18-10 score Monday.

The Indians had 12 hits in the contest and were aided by five Ramsey errors.

Malachi Staszak had an overall good game, finishing with three singles and driving in seven runs and also picking up the save on the mound, going the final two innings, striking out six.

Brady Reynolds had three singles and four RBI while Trey Sheehan added two singles and two RBI. Colin Blazich and James Ballinger had a single and two RBI each.

Blazich was the winning pitcher, going three innings, allowing two hits, one walk and striking on three.

Neoga is now 12-13 on the season.
