Effingham St. Anthony came back from a 3-1 deficit in dramatic fashion in high school baseball action Tuesday. The Bulldogs scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to pull out a 4-3 victory over Tolono Unity.

The Rockets edged out to a 1-0 lead in the third inning. St. Anthony tied in the fifth but Tolono Unity moved ahead 3-1 in the top of the sixth.

The Bulldogs outhit Tolono Unity by an 8-3 count. Eli Levitt had two singles and drove in two runs while Aiden Lauritzen and Connor Roepke had a single and an RBI each.

Brock Jansen threw the win on the mound, going all seven innings, allowing three runs on three hits, one walk while striking out nine.

At St. Anthony

At Louisville

North Clay/Clay City finished with 13 hits in downing Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg by an 8-2 tally as two National Trail Conference baseball teams clashed Tuesday.

The Cardinals edged out to a 1-0 first inning lead. Windsor/Stew-Stras tied in the top of the fifth. But the Cardinals came back with six runs in the bottom of the sixth and the game was put into the win column.

Logan Fleener had two singles, a home run and three RBI for the winners while Alex Boose had a single, home run and two RBI and Carder Walden a single, home run and two RBI. Daniel Warren added a single and double and Ayden Jones two singles.

Boose was the winning pitcher, going 4.2 innings, allowing one run on six hits and two walks. North Clay/Clay City improved to 15-4 on the season.

The Hatchets had nine hits led by Austin Wittenberg with a single and double and Jackson Gurgel with two singles. Windsor/Stew-Stras dropped to 11-3.

Altamont ran out to a five-run opening inning lead and ended this game by the 10-run rule in the fifth, 11-0 over Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran Tuesday.

Ethan Robbins threw a one-hitter, going all five innings, allowing two walks while striking out four.

The Indians were on offensively with 14 hits. Jared Hammer had two singles, a double and four RBI while Kaidyn Miller had a solo home run. Wyatt Phillips finished with a single, double and two RBI, Logan Cornett two singles and two RBI, Mason Robinson two singles and Eli Miler a single and double.

The Indians are back in action today playing host to Charleston in a 4:30 p.m. contest.

At Brownstown

Cumberland defeated Brownstown/St. Elmo, 4-3 in eight innings Tuesday.

The Pirates held a 3-0 opening inning lead but Brownstown/St. Elmo came right back with a two-run second and tied the score in the sixth.

Neither team scored in the seventh, sending the game into extra innings. But the Pirates ended the contest in the eighth with a run.

Both teams had six hits. Trevin Magee and Bryant Weber led Cumberland with two singles each.

Grady Jones was the winner in relief. He threw 2.1 innings allowing no runs on no hits, two walks and two strikeouts.

Brownstown/St. Elmo was led by Adam Atwood with a single, triple and three RBI.

BSE dropped to 9-7 on the season and is back in action Thursday against Vandalia.

Newton came calling and went on a scoring tear in downing Teutopolis by a 15-3 tally in six innings Tuesday.

The Eagles held a 4-1 opening inning lead and never looked back.

Newton had 13 hits led by David Ferguson with three singles and three RBI, Owen Mahaffey with a double, Isaac Flowers with two singles and two RBI, Gage Reynolds and Payton Harris with two singles and an RBI each, Dalton Baltzell with two singles and Carder Reich with a single and an RBI.

Max Meinhart went the distance, allowing three runs on three hits, one walk while striking out nine. The Eagles are now 14-7 on the season.

Teutopolis had three hits, all singles by Bennet Thompson, Caleb Siemer and Joey Niebrugge. Brett Kreke had an RBI. The Wooden Shoes dropped to 7-9.

Neoga had only two hits in the contest but took advantage of five walks and an error by Arcola for a 3-1 victory Tuesday.

The Indians held a 1-0 lead in the second then tacked on two more runs in the third. Arcola scored its lone run in the sixth.

Quintin Richards and Brady Reynolds had a single each while Malachi Staszak had an RBI.

Reynolds was the winner on the mound, going all seven innings, allowing one run on five hits, no walks and striking out 11.

Dieterich scored a run in the sixth that proved to be the game-winner in a 7-6 victory over Casey-Westfield Tuesday.

The Movin' Maroons held a 2-1 first inning lead and led 5-1 after two and 6-5 after four. Casey-Westfield tied in the fifth but Dieterich scored the winning run in the sixth.

The Maroons had nine hits led by Pete Britton with two doubles. Mason Lidy had a double and Jaxon Funneman two singles and an RBI. Andrew Hall added two singles and Sam Hardiek and Dominic Ashley had a single and an RBI each.

Ashley threw 3.1 innings in relief for the win, allowing one run on one hit, two walks and striking out one.

Junior Varsity Games

Mount Zion played host to St. Anthony in a junior varsity contest and claimed a 4-3 win Tuesday.

The score was tied at 2-2 in the second before Mount Zion tallied a run in the third. St. Anthony tied in the fifth but the Braves won the contest in the bottom of the sixth.

St. Anthony outhit Mount Zion. Noah Flaig, Henry Brent, Joseph Tegeler, Vincent Vogel and Maddux Clark had a single each. Brent and Drake Brown had an RBI each.
