Effingham defeated Effingham St. Anthony in junior varsity baseball action Thursday, 6-5 after taking a lead late in the game.

The game was tied at 4-4 with Effingham batting in the top of the sixth. The Hearts scored a run on a stolen base during Max Seachrist's at-bat.

The Hearts scored one in the top of the sixth to lead 6-4. St. Anthony tallied a final run in the bottom of the seventh only to fall short.

Ethan Jones was credited with the pitching victory allowing two hits and no runs over 3 1/2 innings. He struck out three and walked none. Wade Bushur and Wyatt Hayes entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

The Hearts finished with 16 hits led by Peter Rosen with four singles and an RBI,  Max Flack with three singles and an RBI, Brody Boehm with two doubles, Ethan Jones with a single, triple and an RBI and Wade Bushur and Rogan Allen with two singles each. Allen added an RBI.

St. Anthony had 10 hits led by Henry Brent with a double, home run and four RBI, Samuel Link with a double and triple, Ryan Schmidt with a single and triple and Joey Trupiano and Joseph Tegeler with a double each.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis blanked Casey-Westfield 15-0 in five innings Thursday.

C. Hoene threw four innings, allowing one hit while striking out six for the Shoes' win. A. Probst threw the last inning with two strikeouts.

The Shoes had 12 hits led by D. Worman with two triples and an RBI, J. Kreke with a single, home run and two RBI, A. Borries with a double and an RBI, H. Thompson with a double and M. Niebrugge with three singles and two RBI.
