WSS Beats Ramsey In Varsity Baseball Play, JV Roundup

RAMSEY -- Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg pounded Ramsey to the tune of 16-1 in five innings of high school baseball Wednesday.

The two teams played to a 1-1 opening inning tie before the Hatchets broke loose with an eight-run second and ended the game via the 10-run rule.

Colten Bridges had a double and drove in two runs for the Hatchets. Kendall Morris added two singles and an RBI while Tyler Wetherell and Jordan Wittenberg had a single and two RBI each. Carter Chaney and Jackson Gurgel finshed with a single and an RBI each.

Connor Manhart picked up the win on the mound. He went all five innings, allowing one run on six hits, no walks and striking out five.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg improved to 11-2 on the season.

At Casey

Effingham stepped out to a 4-0 first inning lead and went on to blank Casey-Westfield 16-0 in junior varsity play Wednesday.

The Hearts had three pitchers combine on a one-hitter. Max Seachrist went two innings, allowing one hit and striking out four for the win. Peter Rosen came on to go one inning with one strikeout and Colton Michael finished up with two strikeouts.

Casey-Westfield's Hayden Lovell had a single in the first inning and that was the only hit for the Warriors.

Effingham's Wade Bushur, Wyatt Hayes, Keegan Koester and Brody Boehm all drove in runs in the six-run fourth inning. The Hearts had 11 hits in the contest led by Boehm with three singles and two RBI, Max Flack with a single and double and Hayes with a single, double and two RBI.

At Effingham

Effingham St. Anthony hosted Charleston in junior varsity action and captured an 8-7 victory in eight innings Wednesday.

The Bulldogs took a 5-2 opening inning lead before Charleston added on two in the third and moved ahead 6-5 in the fifth. St. Anthony tied the score in the sixth.

The game went into the eighth and the Trojans held a 7-6 lead in the top of the frame. St. Anthony came roaring back with two runs in the bottom of the eighth for the victory.

The Bulldogs had 10 hits led by Henry Brent with a single, double and an RBI, Ethan Karolewicz and Tim Seiler with two singles each and JC Trupiano with a double and an RBI. Joseph Tegeler and Drake Brown added a single and an RBI each.

Tegeler picked up the win in the final inning, allowing one run on one hit and one walk. Maddux Clark started the contest, going 6.1 inings allowing five runs on four hits, three walks and two strikeouts.
