ALTAMONT -- Altamont and Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg battled back and forth before the Indians pulled out an 11-8 high school baseball victory Monday.

Altamont held a 2-1 opening inning lead but the Hatchets moved ahead 5-2 in the third and 8-2 in the fourth.

The Indians then mounted a big comeback that was unstoppable in the fifth with nine runs for the victory.

Altamont had 14 hits in the contest led by Kienon Eirhart with a single, two doubles and three RBI. Jared Hammer added a single, double and an RBI while Kaidyn Miller, Logan Cornett and Mason Robinson had two singles each. Miller and Cornett drove in two runs each. Wyatt Phillips had a single and an RBI.

Ethan Robbins took over the pitching duties in the fourth and went 3.2 innings allowing one run on four hits, one walk and four strikeouts for the win.

Windsor/Stew-Stras was led by Jackson Gurgel with a single, two doubles and two RBI, Carter Chaney with a single, triple and an RBI, Jordan Wittenberg with two singles and an RBI and Austin Wittenberg with two singles. Tyler Wetherell had three RBI.

At Neoga

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City held a 2-0 lead through the first five innings before Neoga tied in the sixth and eventually won the contest, 3-2 in the eighth Monday.

The Indians had eight hits in the contest. Josiah Gentry had two singles, a double and an RBI while Malachi Staszak had double and drove in a run

Neoga finished with five errors in the contest.

CHBC had four hits led by Drake Davis with a double and AJ Radloff with two singles.

Quintin Richards came on in the eighth inning to pick up the win on the mound. He took over for Brady Reynolds who went seven innings allowing two runs on four hits, no walks while striking out 11. Neoga evened its record at 8-8.

At Odin

Dieterich took a 1-0 first inning lead and went on for an 11-2 win over Odin/Patoka/Sandoval Monday.

The Movin' Maroons had a 10-5 lead in the hits department. Noah Dill banged out a single, two home runs and drove in six to lead the way. Garrett Niebrugge had two singles, a home run and two RBI. Andrew Hall had a single, double and an RBI.

Lucas Westendorf kept Odin/Patoka/Sandoval down offensively by striking out 10. He allowed five hits and six walks in the 5.2 innings on the mound.

North Clay/Clay City downed Fairfield by a 14-2 count Monday. The Cardinals improved to 12-4 on the season.

North Clay/Clty City will be back in action today against South Central.

 

At Teutopolis

Charleston came calling and banged out 14 hits and tallied a 10-2 win over Teutopolis Monday.

The Trojans took a 6-0 lead in the second inning then tallied four more in the fourth. T-town scored its two runs in the bottom of the fourth.

The Shoes had only four hits compared to 14 for Charleston. Evan Waldhoff led the way with a double.

Effingham St. Anthony fell to Greenville in junior varsity baseball action Monday, 13-3 in five innings.

The Bulldogs had three hits led by Henry Brent with a triple. Greenville finished with 13 hits in the contest to go along with its 13 runs.

Teutopolis went on a tear, scoring a 21-1 victory over Robinson in four innings Monday.

The Wooden Shoes finished with 11 hits and were aided by eight Robinson errors.

J. Kreke had a single, double and two RBI while M. Niebrugge, C. Hoene and D. Hoene had a double and an RBI each. D. Worman finished with two singles and two RBI.

D. Worman went three innings for the win on the mound, allowing one run on one hit, four walks and four strikeouts.
