DIETERICH -- Effingham High School had no trouble on the offensive end Thursday with a 14-4 baseball victory over Dieterich in a game heard on KJ Country 102.3.

The Hearts opened up scoring in the second inning with two runs as Evan Waymoth doubled on an 0-2 count that scored the runs.

EHS tallied two more in the third before Dieterich scored one in the bottom of the inning. 

But the Hearts solidified the victory with a six-run sixth. Camden Raddatz had a home run, a fielder's choice by Kaden Nichols, an error on a ball put into play by John Harper and a double by Spencer Fox.

EHS finished with nine hits in the game led by Raddatz with a single, home run and four RBI, a double and two RBI by Waymoth and a double and an RBI by Fox. Braxton Lewis added two singles, Colton Webb a single and two RBI and Harper a single and an RBI.

Webb started the contest on the hill, going 2.1 innings, allowing one run on one hit, one walk and two strikeouts for the win. Max Seachrist went 1.2 innings allowing three hits, one walk and striking out two. Braxton Lewis finished out the final three innings, allowing three runs on two hits, two walks and striking out three.

Dieterich was led in hitting by Noah Dill and Sam Hardiek with two singles. Dill added an RBI.

At Altamont

Altamont struck early and held off a final inning challenge by Vandalia for a 4-2 victory Thursday.

The Indians led 1-0 after the first inning and 2-0 after the second. They tacked on another run in the fourth and finished with one in the six. The Vandals scored their two runs in the seventh.

Mason Robinson picked up the win on the mound, going five innings, allowing no runs on five hits, three walks while striking out nine. Robinson also had two singles and an RBI offensively.

Logan Cornett had a single and double while Jared Hammer had a double and an RBI. Nathan Shepard finished with a single and an RBI.

At Altamont

At Neoga

Neoga took the early lead then tacked on single runs in the third and fourth and claimed a 3-1 win over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City as two Natonal Trail Conference teams clashed Thursday.

Neoga edged out to a 1-0 opening inning lead but CHBC tied in the top of the third only to see the Indians move ahead 2-1 in the bottom of the frame. Neoga then tacked on a final run in the fourth for a 3-1 victory.

Quintin Richards went three innings for the win on the mound, allowing one run on one hit, three walks while striking out three. Brady Reynolds threw the final four innings, allowing one hit, no walks while striking out six.

Reynolds, Richards and Landon Titus had two singles each. Reynolds added two RBI. Neoga improved to 4-5.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City had two hits led by Clayton Wojcik with a single and an RBI.

At Pana

Brownstown/St. Elmo scored quickly in taking a 5-3 victory over Pana Thursday.

BSE went out to a 2-0 opening inning lead and tallied two more in the second. Pana scored its two runs in the second and one in the sixth. BSE tacked on a final run in the fourth.

Adam Atwood went three-for-three on the day, all singles while Josiah Maxey and Jarrett Pasley had two singles each. Kyle Behl had a single and an RBI.

Atwood was the winning pitcher, going six innings, allowing three runs on two hits, three walks and striking out 10. Wyatt Forbes came on for the save, going one inning with two strikeouts.

BSE is now 3-4 on the season.

At Newton

Newton played host to Casey-Westfield and downed the Warriors, 10-7 Thursday.

The Eagles had three, three-run innings in the first, third and fifth and tallied a single run in the second.

Isaac Flowers led the way offensively for the Eagles with two doubles and two RBI. Payton Harris added a single, double and an RBI while David Ferguson had two singles.

Carder Reich went six innings, allowing five runs on five hits, four walks while striking out 10. Max Meinhart came on for the final inning, allowing two runs on two hits and striking out two.

At Newton

North Clay/Clay City moved its record to 6-3 on the season with a 13-3 win over Woodlawn Thursday.

North Clay/Clay City is back in action Saturday against Red HIll (Bridgeport).
