St. Anthony, WSS, Altamont, North Clay In NTC Baseball Tourney Finals

Effingham St. Anthony, Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg, Altamont and North Clay (Louisville) moved into the final four of the National Trail Conference Baseball Tournament after picking up victories Monday.

The Bulldogs blanked Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 16-0 in three innings Monday behind a 10-hit attack and four Bobcat errors.

St. Anthony edged out to a 3-0 first inning lead then had a 13-run second inning.

Eli Levitt had a single, home run and three RBI while Brock Fearday had two doubles and also drove in three runs. Max Koenig added a triple and two RBI, Beau Adams a double and an RBI, Will Fearday a single and three RBI and Will Hoene and Brock Jansen a single and an RBI each.

Nick Ruholl went 2.1 innings, allowing no runs on two hits, no walks and striking out one for the win on the mound. Joseph Tegeler came in for 0.2 innings allowng one hit and stirking out one.

CHBC's three hits were a double by Gage Lorton and singles by Carson Evans and Kaidyn Calame.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg downed Dieterich 12-2 in six innings despite the Maroons outhitting the Hatchets by a 6-5 count.

WSS took a 3-0 first inning lead then added on a run in the second. Dieterich's runs came in the third and fifth.

The Hatchets had five hits, all singles by five different players. Tyler Wetherell and Rhett Rincker had a single and two RBI each while Austin Wittenberg, Jackson Gurgel and Connor Manhart had a single and an RBI each. Carter Chaney added an RBI.

Dieterich was led by Noah Dill with a single, home run and two RBI and Pete Britton with a double.

J. Wittenberg went three innings, allowing one run on four hits, no walks and striking out four. Gurgel came on to finish out the contest, going three innings, allowing one run on two hits, no walks and two strikeouts.

Aden McManaway threw a no-hitter as Altamont blanked Neoga 10-0 in six innings Monday.

McManaway went the entire six innings, allowing no runs on no hits, no walks while striking out 12.

Meanwhile, the Altamont offense was clicking away with 14 hits. Kienon Eirhart led the way with a double, home run and four RBI while Mason Robinson had a single and double and Eli Miller and Carter Siebert had two singles each. Nathan Stuemke, Dillan Elam, Jared Hammer and Kaden Davis had a single and drove in a run each.

Neoga finished with six errors in the contest.

North Clay/Clay City edged South Central, 5-4.  Alex Boose picked up the win on the mound.

The Cardinals are now 15-10-1 on the season.

The tournament continues Wednesday with Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg vs. St. Anthony at Paul Smith Field and North Clay/Clay City at Altamont. Both games are at 4 p.m. The winners will advance to the championship game Saturday at noon while the losers will play for third place at 10 a.m., at Stewardson.
