CHBC Opens NTC BB Tourney With Victory

BROWNSTOWN -- Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City opened the National Trail Conference Baseball Tournament Friday with a 6-2 win over Brownstown/St. Elmo.

CHBC edged out to a 1-0 opening inning lead then tacked on four in the second and one more in the fourth.

CHBC  had nine hits led by AJ Radloff who went four-for-four, all singles, and three  RBI. Wyatt Rueff had two singles and Kaidyn Calame had a single and an RBI.

Clayton Wojcik threw the four-hitter allowing two walks while putting together five strikeouts.

BSE was led by Wyatt Stine with a triple and an RBI. BSE ends the season with a 10-11 record.

CHBC advances to face Effingham St. Anthony today at 4 p.m. at Paul Smith Field. Other contests today include Dieterich at Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg (Stewardson), Neoga at Altamont and North Clay (Louisville) at South Central (Kinmundy), all at 4 p.m.

At Woodlawn

Altamont ended this game in the sixth inning by a 12-2 count over Woodlawn Saturday.

The Indians banged out 12 hits in the contest led by Mason Robinson with a single, double and three RBI, Dillan Elam with a double and an RBI, Carter Siebert witih two singles and two RBI, Wyatt Phillips and Eli Miller with two singles each, Clayton Arnold with a single and two RBI and Nathan Shepard with a single and an RBI.

Siebert was the winner on the mound, going all six innings, allowing two runs on six hits, two walks and striking out eight.

The Indians held a 1-0 second inning lead then tacked on two runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings and finished out with five in the sixth.

At Louisville

North Clay/Clay defeated Cobden, 13-1 in five innings Saturday and beat Agape, 12-0 in five innings.

NC/CC is now 14-10-1 on the season and returns to action today in the National Trail Conference against South Central at Kinmundy at 4 p.m.
