Dieterich Edges T-town, St. A, Neoga Win In Baseball

DIETERICH -- Dieterich trailed Teutopolis 4-2 but had a three-run fourth to pull out a 5-4 high school baseball victory Monday in a game heard on KJ Country 102.3.

The Movin' Maroons held a 1-0 first inning lead  as Noah Dill singled and came home on a single by Sam Hardiek. The Maroons then pushed that to 2-0 in the second as Dane Curry singled. An error and a wild pitch pushed Curry to third and he came home on a sacrifice fly by Pete Britton.

The Wooden Shoes tallied three to take the lead in the top of the third. Logan Roepke was hit by a pitch. Mitch Koester doubled home Roepke. Koester took third on a wild pitch. Caleb Siemer drew a walk and eventually came home on a wild pitch.. Connor Siemer singled. When the dust had cleared, three runs scored.

T-town tallied a single run in the fourth as Roepke doubled, took third on a wild pitch and came home on a ground out by Mitch Koester.

But Dieterich came back with three in the bottom of the frame. Lucas Wesendorf drew a walk and Curry had an infield single. Mason Lidy followed with an RBI single. Britton drove in a run on a single and Garrett NIebrugge singled home a run.

The Maroons finished with five hits. Britton had a single and drove in two runs while Niebrugge, Hardiek and Lidy had a single and an RBI each. Noah Dill added a single.

Niebrugge went 5.1 innings, allowing four runs on six hits, four walks and striking out seven for the pitching win.

T-town outhit Dieterich by a 7-5 count. Mitch Koester led the way with a single, double and two RBI while Logan Roepke added a double.

At Effingham

Effingham St. Anthony ended this contest in the fifth via the 10-run rule over Odin, 10-0 Monday.

The Bulldogs edged out to a 2-0 first inning lead then had three-run innings in the second and third and two to end it in the fifth.

Nick Ruholl started the contest on the mound, going three innings for the win. He allowed no runs on three hits, no walks and struck out three. Samuel Link came on and pitched the final two innings allowing no hits, no walks and striking out one.

Will Hoene drove in three runs in the contest. He finished with a triple. Beau Adams also had a triple while Aiden Lauritzen had a single and an RBI and Joseph Tegeler and Eli Levitt an RBI each.

At St. Anthony

At Woodlawn

This contest ended in the fifth inning as Neoga dominated Woodlawn by a 16-3 count Monday at Kaskaskia College.

Woodlawn held the early lead going out to a 3-1 count in two innings. But Neoga broke loose with a nine-run third and ended the contest with a six-run fifth.

Five pitchers went to the mound for the Indians. Josiah Gentry ended up the winner coming on in the third, allowing no runs on no hits, one walk and striking out one.

Offensively, Neoga had 12 hits led by Brady Reynolds with a double and triple, Malachi Staszak with two singles and two RBI, Ryan Koester with two singles and three RBI, Bryar Hennesay with a double and two RBi and Gentry and Keaton Lacy with a triple and an RBI each.

 Cisne took a 2-1 first inning lead and went on to down Brownstown/St. Elmo by an 8-5 tally Monday.

BSE outhit Cisne by a 7-6 count but finished with six errors in the contest.

Lane Stine had two singles for BSE while Kyle Behl and Josiah Maxey had a single and an RBI each.

Brownstown/St. Elmo is now 10-9 on the season and returns to action today at Dieterich in a 4 p.m. contest.
