Shoes Down Bulldogs in Friday Baseball

In a battle of long-time rivals, the Teutopolis Wooden Shoes defeated the St. Anthony Bulldogs 6-3 Friday evening. The contest at Wooden Shoe Field was heard on KJ Country 102.3 and www.kjcountry.com.
Teutopolis broke open a scoreless game with a five-run fourth inning. With one out, Bulldogs starter Eli Levitt walked Mitch Koester and Caleb Siemer and then Ben Goeckner reached on an error to load the bases. Garrett Gaddis singled home one run, then Devin Kreke singled and Caleb Bloemer then singled home two runs. Bennett Thompson walked and then Logan Roepke singled home Kreke to make it 5-0.
The Shoes added their final run in the sixth on two walks, a single, a wild pitch and a fielder's choice.
St. Anthony made it exciting by scoring three runs in the seventh on a leadoff single by JC Trupiano, an error, a walk to Eli Levitt, a single by Brock Fearday to bring in a run, and a walk to Will Hoene to bring home a run.
Garrett Gaddis went 6-2/3 innings for Teutopolis for the win, allowing three runs on two hits and five walks with a strikeout. Conner Hoelscher came in for the last out on a strikeout.
Eli Levitt took the loss for St. Anthony, giving up five runs on four hits and three walks in four innings of work, striking out seven. Brock Fearday pitched the final two innings, allowing one run on two walks and a hit, striking out one batter.

The loss is just St. Anthony's third of the fall against 19 wins. Teutopolis is now 11-8.
