BSE Edges CHBC, St. A, WSS Claim Baseball Wins

BROWNSTOWN -- Brownstown/St. Elmo edged Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, 4-3 in 10 innings at the Egyptian-Illini Conference Baseball Tournament. The game had been started Monday but due to darkness that night was finished Wednesday.

CHBC had taken a 1-0 lead in the second inning Monday and BSE had tied in the bottom of the seventh. Then both teams scored two runs in the ninth and the game had to end because of darkness.

It only took one inning to finish when BSE scored the winning run in the 10th.

Leading the way for BSE were Cade Schaub with two singles and an RBI, Adam Atwood with three singles and an RBI, Jarrett Pasley with a double and an RBI, Kyle Behl with a single and an RBI and Wyatt Stine and Lucas Powell with two singles each.

CHBC was led by Jacob Doty with an RBI.

BSE improves to 9-8 overall and is 2-0 in the EIC Tournament which comes to an end today with both games at Greenville University. CHBC will meet Ramsey at 4:15 p.m.and BSE faces Mulberry Grove at 7. BSE is 2-0, CHBC and Mulberry Grove 1-1 each and Ramsey 0-2.

At Effingham

Effingham St. Anthony blanked Woodlawn by a 15-0 count in four innings Wednesday.

The Bulldogs had an 11-run attack, five of those for extra bases. Eli Levitt had a single, double and two RBI, JC Trupiano with a double and three RBI, Connor Roepke a triple and an RBI, Will Hoene a double and two RBI and Henry Brent with a double. Sam Link added two singles and Will Fearday a single and two RBI.

Brock Jansen went three innings for the win, allowing no runs on two hits, no walks while striking out three.

At Effingham

At Strasburg

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg edged Teutopolis, 5-4 Wednesday.

The Hatchets ran off to a 3-0 first inning lead then tallied single runs in the second and fifth.

The Wooden Shoes scored a run in the fifth and made a bid for the win in the seventh with three runs only to fall short.

Carter Chaney had a single and triple for the winners while Jordan Wittenberg had a single, double and an RBI. Tyler Wetherell added a double and an RBI and Kendall Morris a double. Jackson Gurgel and Connor Manhart had a single and an RBI each and Rhett Rincker an RBI.

Gurgel went five innings allowing one run on four hits, one walk and striking out five.

Leading T-town offensively were Ben Goeckner with a double and Mitch Koester with two singles and an RBI.
