Neoga claimed the championship of the Class 1A Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Regional Monday by edging Mattoon St. John's, 2-1. Neoga will now face Effingham Sacred Heart Saturday at 11 a.m. in its own sectional.

 

Class 1A Oblong Regional

Effingham Sacred Heart blanked Effingham St. Anthony, 4-0 Monday to win the Oblong Regional championship.

Sacred Heart now advances to the Neoga Sectional where the Shamrocks will take on the host squad at 11 a.m. Saturday.

 

Class 2A Casey-Westfield Regional

Jasper County won this regional championship by downing Cumberland, 7-4 Monday.

Jasper County edged ahead of Cumberland 2-1 in the third inning and then scored two in the fourth, one in the fifth and two in the sixth.

Hayden Mulvey had a double for the winners while Nolen Cleaver had a single and two RBI. Logan Burgener and Jacob Oldham had a single and an RBI each and Cade Clark had an RBI.

Mulvey picked up the win on the mound going 5.1 innings, allowing four runs on two hits, four walks and three strikeouts.

Cumberland was led by I. Venatta and C. Roedl with a single and an RBI each.

Jasper County advances to the Casey-Westfield Sectional Saturday and will meet Teutopolis at 11 a.m.

Class 2A Teutopolis Regional

Teutopolis handed South Central an 8-2 loss to win its own regional championship Monday.

The two teams were tied at 2-2 in the third inning. T-town then broke loose with a three-run sixth and finished off with three in the seventh.

The Wooden Shoes had eight hits led by C. Cornell with a single, home run and two RBI, M. Habing with a triple and three RBI and A. Niemerg with two singles and two RBI.

South Central was led by G. Shumate with a double.

R. Bloemer picked up the pitching win, throwing a three-hitter with one walk and nine strikeouts.

The Wooden Shoes advance to the Casey-Westfield Sectional Saturday and will meet Jasper County at 11 a.m.

Class 3A Charleston Regional

Effingham's season came to a close with a 6-1 loss to Charleston in the championship game of the Charleston Regional Monday.

The Mustangs' lone run came in the seventh. They had only one hit, a single by Carter Braddy.

Effingham ends the season with a 12-8 record.
