Teutopolis Wins Cardinal Classic

Teutopolis won the championship of the 2022 Cardinal Classic Saturday.

The Wooden Shoes defeated Altamont 9-5 for the title, after defeating Neoga 11-0.

Altamont reached the title game with a 6-0 win over North Clay/Clay City. 

North Clay/Clay City won the 3rd place game, downing Neoga 3-2. The Cardinals scored three runs in the bottom of the 7th to win the game. 

CHAMPIONSHIP GAME--Teutopolis 9, Altamont 5

Altamont scored three in the first, Teutopolis scored twice in the second to make it 3-2, but Altamont scored two more in the bottom of the second to extend their lead to 5-2. Teutopolis got a run in the fifth to make it a 5-3 game, then exploded for six runs in the seventh to win the game. Logan Lawson got the win for Teutopolis, going the distance and allowing three earned runs on 10 hits and a walk while striking out two. Mason Robinson pitched the first 4-2/3 innings for Altamont, allowing three runs on six hits and six walks with eight strikeouts. Aden McManaway took the loss, allowing six runs, five earned, on six hits and two walks while striking out two.
