Altamont Beats St. A, Cisne Downs Neoga

Effingham St. Anthony held the early lead but Altamont came back to tie and the game went into the ninth before the Indians claimed a 9-5 victory Wednesday at Paul Smith Field.

The Bulldogs dented the plate with a run in the second inning. Brock Jansen singled with two outs. Max Koenig drew a walk and Beau Adams reached on an error that scored Jansen.

St. Anthony moved the score to 3-0 with two runs in the third. With one out, Will Hoene was hit by a pitch, took second on an error and came home on a double by Connor Roepke. Jansen singled home Roepke.

Altamont lit up the scoreboard in the fourth inning with two runs. Mason Robinson led off the frame with a single and stole second. With one out, Kienon Eirhart hit one to centerfield that fell for an error and Robinson scored. Eli Miller then followed with a sacrifice fly that scored Eirhart.

The Indians tied in the fifth, With one out, Nathan Shepard doubled. With two outs, Robinson hit a double that scored Shepard.

Over the next three innings, things were quiet. Altamont put a runner on in the sixth as Carter Siebert doubled and in the seventh as Robinson singled. But Altamont couldn't bring the runs across.

St. Anthony went up and down in order in the sixth, seventh and eighth.

Altamont then came to bat in the ninth and with two outs, broke the game open, scoring six runs to move ahead 9-3. Hits in the frame included singles by Hammer, Wyatt Phillips and Siebert and a double by Eirhart.

But the Bulldogs weren't done yet. They came back to score two in the bottom of the ninth on a walk and a single by Fearday only to fall short.

Altamont was led by Eirhart with two doubles and two RBI, Robinson with two singles, a double and an RBI, Siebert with two singles, a double and an RBI, Phillips a single and double and Nathan Shepard a single, double and an RBI.

St. Anthony was led by Roepke with a single, double and two RBI.

Eli Miller picked up the win, throwing the final inning, allowing two runs on three hits, one walk and striking out one.

Altamont has now won 11 straight and improved to 12-2 overall.

St. Anthony dropped to 16-2 on the season.

At Neoga

Cisne came calling and downed Neoga, 12-1 in five innings Wednesday.

Cisne edged out to a 2-1 opening inning lead. The Runnin' Lions then had a five-run third, a two-run fourth and finished off with three in the fifth.

Neoga's lone run came in the first. The Indians had three hits led by Trey Sheehan with a single and an RBI and Kaden Will and Josiah Gentry with a single each.

Cisne had six hits led by J. Biggs with two singles and two RBI, L. Keck with a single and three RBI and K. Atwood with a single and two RBI.
