Effingham St. Anthony fell to Mattoon in junior high baseball action Friday, 7-2.

It was a hitter's game as the Bullpups had 10 hits and Mattoon had 12.

Mattoon stepped out to a 2-0 first inning lead and tallied two more in the second. St. Anthony scored single runs in the third and fourth.

Miles Waldhoff and Jameson McAllaster had two singles and an RBI each for the Bullpups while Eric Utz had two singles.

At Strasburg

Sigel St. Michael edged Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg, 3-2 Friday. WSS took a 1-0 lead in the second. St. Michael moved ahead with two runs in the third. WSS tied in the fifth and the Sharpshooters won it in the seventh.

Both teams had four hits. St. Michael was led by Alex Mayer with a double, Bryce Niebrugge with two singles and Brandt Niebrugge a single and an RBI.

WSS was led by Pruemer with a double. Wetherell and Bible had a single and an RBI each.

Neoga blanked Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City by an 8-0 count Friday.

Connor Vaughn started for CHBC only giving up two hits and one earned run. Vaughn led offensively with two hits.

CHBC outhit Neoga 5-4 but committed 10 errors and struck out 10 times in the loss.

Neoga was led by Ballinger and Coy with a single and an RBI each.

Coy picked up the win on the mound, going 6.2 innings allowing no runs on five hits, one walk while striking out 10.

At  Effingham

In a Monday contest, Effingham tallied a 10-2 victory over Greenville.

The Mustangs broke a 1-1 tie in the third with three runs, tallied four in the fourth and two in the fifth for the win.

Carson Fox had a double, triple, home run and five RBI while Westin Hayes had three singles, a triple and an RBI for the winners. Andrew Leonard chipped in with a single, double and an RBI.

Ian Kinkelaar went six innings, allowing six hits, one run, and striking out three. EJHS is now 8-6 on the season.

Jasper County moved to 6-0 in the LEIC with a 10-2 win over Casey-Westfield Monday.

Jasper County broke a 2-2 tie with a two-run fourth then tacked on three runs in the fifth and sixth innings.

Jasper County had five hits led by Hayden Mulvey with a triple, Jacob Oldham with a double and two RBI and Nolen Cleaver with a double.

Cleaver was the winning pitcher, going 5.1 innings allowing two runs on six hits, three walks and three strikeouts.

Jasper County is now 10-3-1 overall.
