Effingham St. Anthony split high school baseball victories during weekend action.

In Friday play, Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg claimed a 6-4 win. The Hatchets broke a 1-1 opening inning tie with a two run third. St. Anthony moved ahead 4-3 in the top of the fourth but WSS tied in the bottom of the fifth and won with two runs in the sixth.

The Hatchets had nine hits led by Austin Wittenberg with three singles, Tyler Wetherell with two singles and an RBI and Jordan Wittenberg with a single and three RBI.

Kendall Morris went 3.2 innings allowing four runs on three hits, five walks and three strikeouts. The winner on the mound was J. Wittenberg who came on to go 3.1 innings allowing no runs on no hits, no walks and striking out three.

St. Anthony was led in hitting by Brock Fearday with a home run and an RBI and Eli Levitt with a single and two RBI.

In a Saturday contest at Illinois State University, St. Anthony downed Putnam County, 13-4.

The Bulldogs banged out 16 hits in the contest led by Connor Roepke with a double, 2 triples and three RBI, Eli Levitt and Will Fearday with double and an RBI each, Brock Fearday, Will Hoene, Henry Brent and Nick Ruholl with two singles and an RBI each.

Brock Jansen went two innings on the mound allowing four runs on no hits, four walks and two strikeouts. Picking up the win was Ruholl going three innings allowing no runs on two hits, one walk and two strikeouts. Brent came on to finish the final two innings allowing no runs on one hit, one walk and three strikeouts.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis played host to Odin Friday and won by an 11-1 count in six innings.

The Wooden Shoes held a 3-0 opening inning lead then tacked on five in the second. Odin scored its lone run in the fourth. T-town came back with a run in the bottom of the fifth and two in the sixth.

Caleb Siemer had a single, double and drove in two runs while Ben Goeckner had a double and three RBI and Caleb Bloemer a double and an RBI.

Logan Lawson went five innings for the win, allowing one run on two hits, one walk and striking out seven.

At Teutopolis

At Brownstown

Aidan Dawson threw a no-hitter as South Central blanked Brownstown/St. Elmo 11-0 in five innings Friday.

Dawson finished with two walks and six strikeouts.

The Cougars took a 2-0 lead on Brownstown/St. Elmo in the third inning and went on for the win.

Ethan Watwood had a single and double for the winners while Chase Thompson had two singles and Calaway Smith a double.

Only two runners got on base for BSE, Wyatt Stine and Josiah Maxey with a walk each. BSE drops to 0-3 in the National Trail Conference and 4-4 overall.

Altamont broke a 2-2 opening inning tie and went on to beat Dieterich, 14-4 in Friday action.

The Indians had 12 hits led by Nathan Stuemke with three singles and an RBI and Logan Cornett with two singles and an RBI. Seven other players had a single each.

Dieterich had five hits led by Noah Dill with two singles, a double and an RBI and Andrew Hall with a single and an RBI.

Jared Hammer was the winning pitcher, going six innings, allowing four runs on five hits, four walks and striking out five. Aden McManaway came on in the seventh  allowing no runs on no hits, no walks and two strikeouts.

At Dieterich

North Clay (Louisville) came calling and picked up a 3-3 win in six innings over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Friday.

Jack Compton was the winning pitcher.

CHBC was led by Carson Evans with a single and double and Conner Nowitzke, with two singles.

North Clay is now 2-1 in the National Trail Cofnerence, 4-3-1 overall.
