CHARLESTON -- Effingham Junior High School fell to Charleston, 5-4 in baseball action Thursday.

Charleston held a 1-0 lead in the third inning and led 3-2 after four and finished out with two in the sixth.

Carson Fox had two singles, a double and an RBI for the Mustangs while Westin Hayes had a single, double and an RBI and Carter Braddy a single and double.

Effingham dropped to 7-5 on the season.

At Effingham

Neoga traveled to St. Anthony and handed the Bullpups a 10-4 loss Thursday.

St. Anthony held a 1-0 first inning lead but Neoga tied in the second. The two teams were tied at 2-2 in the fourth before Neoga took off with three runs in the fifth and five in the sixth.

Hakman led the way for Neoga with two doubles, a triple and five RBI while while Bryant had a single and an RBI.

St. Anthony was led by Eric Utz with three singles and an RBI, Graiden Wilhour with two singles and Will Bierman and Jonny Gannaway with a single and an RBI each.

Sigel St. Michael took the early lead and never looked back in a 7-4 win over North Clay/ Clay City Thursday.

The Sharpshooters scored single runs in the first, second and third innings, three in the fourth and one in the seventh.

B. Niebrugge and W. Andrews had two hits and two RBI each. B. Niebrugge and E. Fearday had a hit and an RBI each.

A. Heuerman was the winning pitcher going 4.1 innings allowing three runs on six hits, two walks and four strikeouts.

North Clay/Clay City was led by Lucas Griffy with a single, home run and one RBI, Brody Adair with a double and two RBI and Ethan Sullens with two singles.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City's Kendrdick Stoldt started on the mound and picked up the 13-1 victory over Altamont Thursday.

Stoldt went four innings, did not allow an earned run and struck out five.

Remington Howell was three-for-three with a single, two doubles and three RBI. Carter Dilly went two-for-three with a double, triple and an RBI, Griffin Vaughn had a double and three RBI and Daithyn Arnold had a double and an RBI

Jasper County improved to 9-3-1 on the season and 5-0 in the LEIC with an 11-1 victory over Marshall in five innings Thursday.

Jasper County's Cade Clark went three innings, throwing a one-hitter with two walks and four strikeouts for the victory on the mound. Chance Mulvey threw the last two innings, allowing one run on two hits, three walks and two strikeouts.

Nolen Cleaver had a single, double and an RBI for the winners while Clark had a single and double, Logan Burgener two singles and two RBI and Hayden Mulvey a triple and an RBI.
