ODIN -- Effingham St. Anthony edged out to a 2-1 opening inning lead then tallied six runs in the second, three in the fourth and five in the fifth to end the contest, 16-2 over Odin in high school baseball competition Wednesday.

The Bulldogs' Brock Jansen went three innings, allowing one run on two hits, one walk while striking out three for the win. Joseph Tegeler came on two finish out the final two innings, allowing one run on one hit, one walk and striking out four.

St. Anthony's bats were hot with five extra base hits in 13 overall. Aiden Lauritzen had two singles, a double and three RBI while Sam Link had a double, triple and two RBI. Henry Brent contributed a single, double and two RBI and Joseph Tegeler a double and an RBI. JC Trupiano and Will Fearday had two singles and an RBI each and Nick Ruholl a single and three RBI.

Odin was led by Haines with a double.

At Brownstown

Brownstown/St. Elmo trailed Mulberry Grove 5-2 after three innings and 10-9 after four then broke loose with two runs in the fifth and three in the sixth to move ahead 14-10. Mulberry Grove tallied two more in the seventh only to fall short Wednesday, 14-12.

BSE banged out 10 hits and was aided by nine Mulberry Grove errors.

Wyatt Stine had a triple and an RBI while Wyatt Forbes had two singles and three RBI. Jarrett Pasley and Kyle Behl added two singles each. Pasley had an RBI. Cade Schaub contributed a single and two RBI.

Brownstown/St. Elmo is 1-0 in the Egyptian-Illini Conference and 4-3 overall. The squad returns to action Friday against South Central.

At Strasburg

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg ended the contest Wednesday against Ramsey in the fifth inning, 12-0.

The Hatchets had nine hits led by Kendall Morris with two singles, a double and three RBI while Blayzz Verdeyen had a double and three RBI. Carter Chaney chipped in with two singles and Connor Manhart added two RBI.

Jackson Gurgel went three innings for the win on the mound. He did not allow a hit or walk while striking out six. Manhart came on to finish out the final two innings allowing no runs and three hits.
