JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL

Friday, Aug. 26

Jasper County took a 4-0 first inning lead but Teutopolis came right back with four runs to tie in the second. Jasper County moved ahead 6-4 in the bottom of the second but here came the Wooden Shoes again, tying the score in the third.

T-town then tallied two runs in the top of the fifth and finished out with one in the sixth for a 9-6 victory.

Both teams had 11 hits. B. Bloemer had a single, double and two RBI for the Shoes while A. Niemerg had a single, double and an RBI. M. Habing had two singles and an RBI and E. Wiedner a triple. A. Lustig added two singles.

Jasper County was led by Cade Clark with two singles and two RBI, Logan Burgener with two singles and an RBI and Brock Anderson, Hayden Mulvey and Nolen Cleaver with two singles each.

A. Niemerg picked up the win on the mound, going five innings, allowing no runs on four hits, no walks and striking out four.

At Strasburg

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg tallied a victory over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City in Friday action, 8-2.

CHBC finished with a 6-5 hit advantage but committed 10 errors.

WSS was led in hitting by Pruemer with two singles, a double and an RBI.

Wetherell went six innings on the mound, allowing one run on five hits, no walks while striking out 10.

CHBC was led by Remington Howell with a single, home run and one RBI and Carter Dilley with a triple.

Dieterich blanked Newton St. Thomas by an 11-0 count in five innings Friday.

St. Thomas had three hits led by Beau Bennett with a double.

St. Thomas is now 2-4 on the season and will be back in action at Oblong today.

Neoga tallied a 12-2 victory over North Clay/Clay City Friday.

North Clay/Clay City drops to 2-8 on the season.

 

Saturday, August 27

Jasper County and Sullivan competed in the Effingham Invitational Saturday.

In the opener, Jasper County edged Effingham, 2-0.

The two runs came in the second inning for Jasper County behind five hits.

J. Oldham had a triple and drove in two runs for the winners. C. Clark and L. Burgener had two singles each.

Effingham was led by Jenner Pals, Ian Kinkelaar and Andrew Leonard with a single each.

Jasper County and Sullivan then played to a 9-9 tie due to the time limit.

Both teams had nine hits. Jasper County was led by E. Wolf and A. McCann with two singles and an RBI each.

In the third contest, Effingham was a 12-6 winner over Sullivan.

EJHS held a 3-1 opening inning lead and led 6-5 after three. Sullivan tied in the fifth but Effingham scored six in the bottom of the frame for the victory.

Effingham had nine hits led by Pals with two singles and an RBI, Carson Fox with two singles, a triple and an RBI and T.J. Raddatz with three RBI.

Sigel St. Michael came calling and claimed a 16-10 win over Effingham St. Anthony Saturday.

The Sharpshooters outhit St. Anthony by a 14-12 count. Walden Andrews had three singles and drove in two runs while B. Niebrugge had a single, double and three RBI and B. Niebrugge a double and four RBI. Mason Platz added two singles and an RBI.

St. Anthony was led by Will Bierman with two singles, a double and an RBI and Jonny Gannaway a single, double and three RBI. Hayden Bushur and Quentin Stephens had two singles and an RBI each.

St. Anthony held a 9-4 lead after two innings but the Sharpshooters had an eight-run third and tacked on four more in the fourth.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City competed in the Greenville Tournament Saturday.

In the opener, CHBC beat Okawville, 11-4. Isaac Wells went 6.2 innings allowing four runs on one hit, two walks and striking out six.

Porter Lilly led the way in hitting with three singles and two RBI. Remington Howell had two singles and Kendrick Stoldt a single and two RBI.

CHBC then fell to Greenville by a 7-5 count. CHBC held a 5-3 lead after two innings, but Greenville came back with a run in the fifth and three in the sixth.

CHBC was led by Howell with three singles and an RBI, Carter Dilley with a double and Stoldt with a dobule. Connor Vaughn had a single and drove in two runs.
