Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City won its own baseball tournament Saturday.

COWDEN -- Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City won its own boys baseball tournament Saturday.

In the opening contest, CHBC trounced Mulberry Grove by an 18-1 count in four innings.

CHBC stepped out to an 8-0 opening inning lead and led 12-0 after two and 18-1 after three. The game ended in the fourth inning.

Connor Vaughn threw a no-hitter allowing three walks while striking out eight.

Remington Howell had four hits including a single, two doubles and a triple. He drove in five runs. Carter Dilley had a single, double and three RBI. Isaac Wells had a single and three RBI and Isaac Wells a single and two RBI.

Effingham Sacred Heart then beat Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg 9-6. The Shamrocks held 1-0 first inning lead. WSS went ahead 2-1 in the top of the third but Sacred Heart came back in the bottom of the frame with four runs and never looked back.

Sacred Heart had only four hits compared to 10 for Windsor/Stew-Stras.

In the third place contest, Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg trounced Mulberry Grove, 15-1.

The championshp went to CHBC over Sacred Heart, 5-2.

The Bobcats took a 1-0 first inning lead then tacked on two in the third and fifth innings. Sacred Heart's runs came in the sixth.

Both teams had five hits. CHBC was led by Wells and Vaughn with a double and two RBIs each.

Sacred Heart was led by Hecht with a double and two RBI and Traub with two singles.

At St. Anthony

Effingham St. Anthony edged Robinson Nuttall by a 5-4 count in Saturday action.

Nuttall took a 2-1 lead in the second inning and moved that to 3-1 in the top of the third. But the Bullpups came roaring back with a three run bottom of the third to lead 4-3. Nuttall tied in the top of the fourth but, once again, St. Anthony moved ahead with two runs and that's where the scoring ended.

Hayden Bushur led the hitting with two singles and a double while Will Bierman had two singles and drove in two runs. Jonny Gannaway had a single and an RBI.

Bushur picked up the pitching win going 6.2 innings allowing three runs on six hits, two walks and six strikeouts.

At St. Anthony

At Sigel

Sigel St. Michael captured two victories Saturday.

The Sharpshooters defeated Cumberland, 9-3 in the opener. St. Michael had nine hits in the contest and was aided by five Cumberland errors.

Alex Mayer had a single and two doubles for the winners while Brant Niebrugge had two singles and three RBI, Adyn Heuerman a double and two RBI and Evan Fearday two singles.

Cumberland was led by C. Roedl with a single and double, I. Venatta with a double and T. Ralston with two singles and two RBI.

In the second game, St. Michael dominated Okaw Valley by an 18-0 count in three innings.

The Sharpshooters had nine hits led by Alex Mayer with two doubles and three RBI, Bryce Niebrugge with a single, home run and three RBI, Brant Niebrugge with two singles, Lyncoln Dittamore with two RBI, and Isaiah Lee and Evan Fearday with a single and two RBI each.

Jasper County handed Salem a 7-4 loss Saturday but fell in B action by a 14-4 count.

Jasper County stepped out to a 3-0 first inning lead but Salem tied in the top of the second. Jasper County moved ahead 4-3 in the third but here came Salem again to knot the score in the top of the fourth. Jasper County then put the game away with a three-run fifth.

Cade Clark had a single, double and two RBI for the winners while Henry Will had two singles and an RBI and Brock Anderson two singles.

Jacob Oldham picked up the win on the mound, going two innings allowing no runs on no hits, one walk while striking out two.

In the B contest, Salem was a 14-4 winner in five innings.

Jasper County had four hits led by Chance Mulvey with two singles.
