Effingham Junior High School finished with 14 runs on 11 hits in a 14-1 victory over Vandalia in baseball action Thursday.

The two teams played to 0-0 tie through the first two innings before the Mustangs tallied two in the third. EJHS added two in the fourth, one each in the fifth and sixth and eight in the seventh.

Carter Braddy was the winning pitcher going 3.1 innings allowing no hits and striking out seven. Westin Hayes came on to go three innings allowing one hit and striking out seven.

Brady aided his own cause offensively with four singles and five RBI. Jenner Pals had two singles and an RBI while Jaxdon Adams had a double. Carson Fox had a single and drove in two runs.

At Cowden

Shelbyville came calling and picked up a 6-1 victory over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Thursday.

The Bobcats had one run on six hits. Isaac Wells and Connor Vaughn had two hits each. Cale Reed, Kendrick Stoldt and Remington Howell had one hit apiece.

Shelbyville took a 1-0 lead in the first, tacked on another run in the second before adding three in the fifth and finished with one in the seventh.

CHBC scored its lone run in the fifth. Reed drove in Vaughn.

At Cowden
