Effingham Junior HIgh School opened the baseball season with a huge hit and run total Wednesday.

The Mustangs tallied a 15-0 win over Altamont in four innings behind a 17-hit attack.

Jenner Pals made things easy on the mound by throwing a no-hitter with five strikeouts over two innings. Lowe came on to throw one inning not allowing a hit while Wendt finished out the final inning, allowingn o hits while striking out three.

Leading in hitting were Carter Braddy with a single, double and three RBI, Raddatz with a single, double and two RBI, Wendt with two singles and three RBI and Hayes wih three singles. Eight other players had a single each.

At Olney

Jasper County edged Olney, 5-4 in eight innings Wednesday.

Jasper County edged out to a 1-0 first inning lead and led 3-2 after two. Olney moved ahead with two runs in the third. Jasper County came back with the tying and winning runs in the seventh.

The winners had seven hits, all singles by B. Anderson, P. Harris, J. James, H. Mulvey, C. Clark, N. Cleaver and H. Will. Anderson, Harris and James had an RBI each.

Mulvey was the winning pitcher, going 4.2 innings allowing no runs on two hits, two walks and striking out one.
