Merrifield's Consecutive Games Streak Ends, Cardinals Win

Kansas City Royals second baseman Whit Merrifield's consecutive games streak came to an end at 553 Monday when he missed the first game of a doubleheader against the Detroit Tigers with a toe injury.

The 33-year-old’s streak dated back to June 24, 2018, and had been Major League Baseball’s longest active streak.

Cal Ripken Jr. holds the all-time record of 2,632 straight games.
