Altamont Beats WSS, T-town, Newton Win In Baseball

Altamont handed Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg an 11-9 regular season baseball loss Monday.

WSS edged out to a 5-4 opening inning lead but Altamont came back to lead 6-5 in the second. The Hatchets moved ahead again in the third 7-6 and led 8-6 in the top of the fourth. But, here came the Indians again with three runs to move ahead 9-8.

WSS tied in the top of the fifth, 9-9 but Altamont put the final statement on the game with two in the bottom of the fifth then held the Hatchets scoreless over the next two frames for the victory.

Altamont had 13 hits in the contest led by Mason Robinson with a single, two doubles and two RBI. Jared Hammer added two singles and two RBI while Kaidyn Miler had a double and two RBI. Nathan Shepard and Tyler Robbins had two singles each. Kienon Eirhart singled and drove in two runs.

The Hatchets were led by Gavan Wernsing with a single, home run and four RBI. Samuel Vonderheide added a single and double while Austin Wittenberg had two singles. Colin Kinkelaar had a single and two RBI.

The Indians went through five pitchers while WSS had four.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis blanked Olney by a 10-0 count in five innings Monday.

Dylan Pruemer and Tyler Pruemer combined to throw a no-hitter. D. Pruemer went two innings with three walks and two strikeouts. T. Pruemer pitched the final three innings allowing no hits and no walks.

D. Pruemer had two singles and three RBI offensively while Mitch Althoff and Sam Bushur had two singles and an RBI each. Cade Buehnerkemper added two singles and Kayden Althoff had a single and drove in two runs.

T-town improved to 23-11 on the season while D. Pruemer now sports a 7-1 pitching record. The Shoes will be back in action at the Vandalia Regional Wednesday against Salem at 6 p.m.

At Newton

Newton tallied a 9-3 win over Brownstown/St. Elmo Monday.

The Eagles edged out to a 2-1 opening inning lead and led 4-1in the  second inning. The Eagles then tallied three more in the fourth and two in the fifth.

Newton was on offensively with 15 hits in the contest. Ben Meinhart had three singles and an RBI while Carder Reich had two singles and two RBI. Mason Mulvey had two singles and an RBI and Owen Mahaffey and Daniel Spiker two singles each. Jacob McClure added a single and an RBI.

BSE was led by Adam Atwood and Dalton Myer with a single and double each. Myers added an RBI. Kevin Hall had a single and drove in two runs. The Bombers dropped to 10-11 on the season.

Newton's Dylan Gier picked up the win on the mound, going six innings, allowing three runs on eight hits, two walks and five strikeouts.

At Casey

South Central traveled to Casey-Westfield and suffered a 9-7 loss Monday.

The Cougars and Warriors were tied at 4-4 after four innings. South Central moved ahead with three in the fifth but Casey-Westfield came back with five in the sixth for the victory.

South Central had 10 hits led by Chase Thompson with two singles, a double and two RBI while Ethan Watwood had two singles and a double. Brandt Hiestand had two singles and Brody Markley a single and an RBI.
