NEOGA -- Effingham St. Anthony and Neoga went four innings without scoring Wednesday. The Bulldogs then broke loose with a run in the fifth and went on for a 5-1 high school baseball victory.

Eli Levitt had Neoga's number hitting-wise as he held the Indians to one run on three hits while striking out 14.

Brody Niebrugge had his hitting shoes on banging out two home runs and finishing with three RBI. Will Hoene hit a solo shot while Colton Fearday had two singles and drove in a run.

Neoga had three hits, all singles by Luke Romack, Brady Reynolds and Bryar Hennesay.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg took the early lead with two runs and blanked Shelbyville by a 3-0 count Wednesday.

Gavan Wernsing threw a one-hitter allowing only two walks while striking out 17.

Austin Wittenberg led the way with a single and double while Jordan Wittenberg had a single and two RBI. Wernsing aided his own cause with a single and an RBI. Tyler Wetherell and Samuel Vonderheide added a single each.

At Brownstown

Brownstown/St. Elmo and Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City went through the first three innings scoreless before the Bombers finally broke loose with a run.

BSE then tacked on three in the fifth and finished out with a 4-0 victory.

Dalton Myers threw a two-hitter for the winners, allowing two walks while striking out five.

Myers also was on offensively with a single and double while Wyatt Chandler had a triple and two RBI. BSE improved to 9-8 on the season.

Wyatt Rueff and Layne Jones had a single each for the Bobcats.

At Greenville

Altamont tallied in the top of the seventh but fell a run short of tying the contest in a 4-3 loss to Greenville Wednesday.

The Indians moved ahead 2-0 in the top of the third but Greenville came back in the bottom of the frame to score four runs. Altamont pulled within 4-3 in the top of the seventh but couldn't get over the hump.

Altamont outhit Greenville by a 10-5 count but ended up with three errors.

Wyatt Phillips contributed two singles and knocked in two runs. Mason Robinson had a single, double and an RBI while Tyler Robbins had a single and double.

Aidan Dodson was tough on the mound as South Central blanked Salem, 4-0 Wednesday.

Dodson went 5.2 innings allowing no runs on one hit, one walk while striking out 14.

South Central scored quick with three in the first inning and added on a single run in the third.

Anthony Buonaura hit a solo homer for the Cougars while Spencer Johannes had a double and drove in three runs.
