North Clay Downs T-town, Newton Beats Neoga In Baseball

LOUISVILLE-- North Clay (Louisville) continues to roll along in high school baseball action. The 23rd victtim Tuesday was Teutopolis going down to a 10-2 loss.

Collyn Ballard was on fire from the batter's box. Ballard connected on two home runs, hitting seven of the 10 runs in during the contest. He knocked out a grand slam and a three-run shot. Bryton Griffy also produced a home run and drove in two runs. The other run came in on a single by Carson Burkett.

Holden Clifton, Brady Ingram, Dakota Weidner, Layton Dawkins and Zimmerman had a single each.

The Cardinals held a 4-0 lead in the second inning. T-town scored a run in the third but North Clay came right back with a run in the fourth then produced five in the fifth. T-town had a final tally in the seventh.

North Clay's Donnie Zimmerman threw a four-hitter allowing two walks while striking out seven. He improved his pitching record to a perfect 7-0.

T-town had four hits led by Sam Bushur and Derek Konkel with a solo home run each. Kayden Althoff and Dylan Pruemer had a single each.

North Clay now sports an impressive 23-3 record and will return to action today playing host to Breese Central at 4 p.m.

The Wooden Shoes are now 15-8 and are back in action Thursday hosting Olney.

At Newton

Neoga held a 3-2 lead in the second inning, but Newton came back strong to move ahead 5-3 in the third then tacked on a single run in the fourth and two in the sixth for an 8-5 win Tuesday.

The Eagles had nine hits led by Owen Mahaffey with a single, triple and two RBI, Mason Mulvey witht wo singles and four RBI and Max Meinhart with a double.

Neoga had eight hits led by Kaden Young with two singles and an RBI and Luke Romack with two singles.

Isaac Flowers threw an eight-hitter with two walks and five strikeouts over five innings for the win on the mound. Max Meinhart came on to finish out the 1.2 innings allowing no runs on no hits, no walks and one strikeout.
