N. Clay Beats St. A, Dieterich, WSS, Neoga Nab Baseball Victories

North Clay (Louisville) handed Effingham St. Anthony a 4-2 loss in high school baseball action Monday at Paul Smith Field.

The Cardinals edged out to a 2-0 opening inning lead and had a two-run fourth. St. Anthony made a comeback bid in the bottom of the seventh only to fall short.

North Clay's Carson Burkett threw a four-hitter with no walks and one strikeout.

Collyn Ballard led the way offensively for the Cardinals with a single, double, home run and two RBI while Holden Clifton had a double, Logan Fleener two singles and Brady Ingram a single and an RBI.

St. Anthony was led by Beau Adams with a double and Connor Roepke with a single and an RBI.

At Cowden

Dieterich freshman Lucas Westendorf went 6.2 innings in throwing a no-hitter over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City for a 6-0 win Monday.

Westendorf allowed five walks while striking out 12. Braden Shadel came on for the final out.

Dieterich took a 2-0 first inning lead and added on two in the third and two in the fourth. The Maroons had six hits led by Garrett NIebrugge with a single and double, Pete Britton with two singles and two RBI and Noah Dill with two singles and an RBI.

CHBC committed five errors in the contest.

At Cowden

At Brownstown

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg edged out to a 2-1 opening inning lead but Brownstown/St. Elmo moved ahead 3-2 in the third inning. WSS took a 4-3 lead in the top of the fourth but here came the Bombers again to tie the score in the fifth.

The Hatchets then won the contest 5-4 in the seventh. WSS had 10 hits led by Tyler Wetherell with three singles, Gavan Wernsing with a single and three RBI, Jordan Wittenberg and Graham Kasey with a double each and Samuel Vonderheide and Carter Chaney with a single and an RBI each.

SEB was led offensively by Brady Maxey with a single, triple and an RBI, Dalton Meyrs with a double and an RBI and Wyatt Chandler, Adam Atwood and Kyle Behl with two singles each. Chandler had two RBI. BSE drops to 8-8.

Windsor/Stew-Stras improved to 15-3.

Neoga pounded out 16 runs in a 16-1 victory over Ramsey in four innings Monday.

The Indians held a 4-0 first inning lead, then tacked on three in the second, eight in the third and one in the fourth.

Neoga had three hits led by Quintin Richards with a double and an RBI and Josiah Gentry with a single and an RBI.

Three Ramsey pitchers gave up 16 walks in the contest.

Kaden Will went two innings, allowing one run on two hits, two walks and two strikeouts. M. Staszak went the next two innings, allowing two hits and striking out four.

At Neoga

Paris took a 4-0 first inning lead and went on for a 7-5 win over Newton Monday.

Both teams had nine hits and both teams had three errors. The Tigers held a 6-0 lead before the Eagles scored two in the third and added on two more in the fifth and one in the seventh.

Newton was led by Carder Reich with three singles, Mason Mulvey with two singles and two RBI and G. Reynolds and Gus Bierman with a double each. Reynolds had an RBI.
