T-town Blanks Effingham In Baseball

Teutopolis struck first and went on to blank Effingham 11-0 in high school baseball competition Monday on a game heard on KJ Country 102.3.

The Wooden Shoes tallied a run in the first as Sam Bushur led off with a double. Cade Buehnerkemper reached on an error. The Hearts got a double play but Bushur came home.

T-town then broke loose with 10 runs in the second to finish the game in the fifth inning via the 10-run rule.

Caleb Siemer and Derek Konkel led off the second with back-to-back singles. Caleb Bloemer drew a walk to load the bases. A single by Bushur scored two runs. With one out, Kaden Althoff singled home a run. Dylan Pruemer also had a single that brought a run home. Garrett Gaddis was hit by a pitch. Siemer came up for the second time and drew a walk. Konkel followed his single in the inning with a two-RBI double. Bloemer singled home two runs.

That was the end of scoring for both teams. 

K. Althoff was the winner on the mound, going 2.2 innings, allowing no runs on two hits, three walks while striking out six. Ben Goeckner came on to throw 1.1 innings with one strikeout and Buehnerkemper finished out the final inning allowing no hits and striking out two.

The Hearts had two hits, both singles by Gauge Massey, one in the first and one in the third.

Teutopolis improved to 15- 7 on the season and is back in action today, weather permitting, at North Clay (Louisville).

Effingham dropped to 11-10 and returns to play Friday playing host to Flora.
