Altamont Beats C-W, T-Town, Newton Nab Two, S. Central, Neoga Win

CASEY -- Altamont ran off with the lead late in the game for an 8-1 victory over Casey-Westfield in high school baseball  Friday.

The game was tied at 1-1 with the Indians batting in the bottom of the fifth. Jared Hammer singled, scoring a run.

The Indians then secured the victory with six runs in the sixth inning.

Mason Winn, Nathan Stuemke and Dillan Elam combined to allow one run on six hits, four walks and striking out 11. Winn struck out six and Elam five.

Elam had a double and drove in a run while Kaidyn Miller and Hammer had a single and two RBI each. Wyatt Phillips added two singles and Mason Robinson had a triple. Logan Cornett and Kienon Eirhart had a single and drove in a run each.

At Altamont

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis played host to Marshall and Pleasant Plains Friday and claimed wins over both teams.

The Wooden Shoes opened with a 9-1 victory against Marshall. T-town tallied single runs through the first three innings before pushing ahead 7-1 in the fourth and tacking on two more runs in the sixth.

Both teams had six hits. Sam Bushur had a single, double and two RBI for the Shoes while Cade Buehnerkemper had a single and drove in two runs. Kayden Althoff and Mitch Althoff had a single and an RBI each.

Derek Konkel took the win going 5.2 innings allowing one run on six hits, one walk and striking out 11.

Pleasant Plains nabbed the second contest by edging Marshall, 8-7.

T-town then blanked Pleasant Plains, 10-0 in five innings.

The Shoes held a 1-0 first inning lead, had a five-run second, a three-run third and finished the game with one in the bottom of the fifth.

Bushur had a double while Buehnerkemper, K. Althoff, M. Althoff and Dylan Puemer had a single and two RBI each. Caleb Siemer had an RBI.

Pruemer was the winner on the mound going all five innings allowing three hits, no walks and striking out three.

T-town improved to 14-7 on the season while Pleasant Plains is 13-12 and Marshall 7-10.

T-town is back in action today against Effingham in a game that can be heard on KJ Country 102.3.

At Newton

Newton was a winner in two games over the weekend.

In a Friday contest, the Eagles hosted Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine and won 3-2 in eight innings.

OPH held a 2-0 lead until Newton tied the score in the bottom of the sixth. The Eagles then won the contest in the bottom of the eighth.

Newton had six hits led by Mason Schafer with a single, double and two RBI, Gage Reynolds with a double and Mason Mulvey with a single and an RBI.

Gus Bierman was the winner, going the final inning allowing one walk and striking out one.

Newton then traveled to Olney Saturday and blanked the Tigers, 10-0 in five innings.

Owen Mahaffey threw a one-hitter, allowing two walks while striking out three.

The Eagles held a 1-0 first inning lead then had a five-run third and a four-run fourth.

Isaac Flowers had a single, double and drove in three runs while Ben Meinhart had a single, double and an RBI. Mulvey added a double and Schafer a single and two RBI. Mahaffey aided his own cause with two singles and three RBI.

At Centralia

South Central went nine innings before scoring the winning run for a 6-5 victory over Centralia in the Centralia Tournament during the weekend.

The Cougars trailed Centarlia 5-0 until the top of the seventh and rallied to score all five runs to tie the game. The Cougars then won in the top of the ninth.

Aidan Dodson, Beau Jolliff and Andrew Magnus had a single and an RBI each while Ethan Watwood drove in two with a single.

Brand Hiestand picked up the pitching win going three innings allowing no runs on one hit, two walks and striking out three.

In the Saturday contest, Trenton Wesclin was a 9-3 winner over South Central.

Wesclin broke a 1-1 tie with a run in the third but South Central tied the score in the fourth. Wesclin then moved ahead for good with a four-run fifth.

South Central had four hits with Chase Thompson garnering two of those with two doubles and an RBI. Andrew Magnus added a double.

Neoga took a 2-1 first inning lead and went on for a 6-1 victory over Brownstown/St. Elmo Friday.

Neoga had five hits led by Brady Reynolds with two singles and an RBI and Kaden Young with a double. Trey Sheehan, Will O'Dell and Kaden Will had an RBI each.

BSE was led by Brady Maxey with a double. Kevin Hall had an RBI.

Neoga took the early lead then tacked on two runs in the fourth and single runs in the sixth and seventh.

Young went three innings allowing one run on two hits, one walk and three strikeouts.
