Borders pitched a six-hitter with one walk and 10 strikeouts as Altamont High School handed Cumberland a 7-1 defeat Wednesday evening in baseball action.
While Borders was on the mound, he was backed by 10 hits and a 3-0 first inning lead. Armstrong and Miller had two hits each. Armstrong had two singles and an RBI and Miller, two singles.
Altamont tallied four more runs in the seventh.

Teutopolis trounced Mattoon 10-0 in five innings via the 10-run rule. The Wooden Shoes had 10 hits in the contest.
Wenthe banged out a solo home run while Probst had a home run and finished with four RBI. Wendling had a single, double and three RBI and Waldhoff and Hardiek had two singles each.
Probst picked up the pitching win on a one-hitter with two walks and five strikeouts. The Shoes are now 22-3 on the season and Probst moved his record to 4-0-1.

South Central tallied single runs in the first and fifth innings to blank Olney 2-0.
The Cougars had seven hits in the game led by Fischer Tharp with two singles and Kyle Bray with a double and an RBI. Dan Diss picked up the pitching win on a three-hitter with two walks and five strikeouts.

Oblong came calling and edged the Movin' Maroons of Dieterich 3-2 in action Wednesday.
Oblong took a 1-0 lead in the second but Dieterich tied in the third. Oblong then pushed ahead 3-1 in the top of the fifth. Dieterich came back with a single run in the sixth but fell short.
Dieterich outhit Oblong 8-4. Cole Hartke led the way for the Maroons with two singles and an RBI. Koert Mehler had the only extra base hit of the game for Oblong with a double and drove in two runs.

Paris handed Newton a 10-1 loss. The Tigers stepped out to a 4-0 first inning lead and never looked back.
Paris banged out 17 hits in the contest and was aided by two Newton errors. Alex Elmore picked up the pitching win, striking out six.
Newton's Knepper led the way in hitting with a single, double and an RBI.
