WSS Blanks Altamont, Dieterich, Newton Capture Wins

The Hatchets took the early lead and then Gavan Wernsing kept the Indians off base with 15 strikeouts. He allowed only two hits and walked two.
Meanwhile, the Hatchets had four hits, all singles by Austin Wittenberg, Tyler Wetherell, Wernsing and Samuel Vonderheide. Wetherell and Wernsing had an RBI each while Jordan Wittenberg contributed an RBI.
The lone hits for Altamont were singles by Nathan Stuemke and Tyler Robbins.
Mason Robinson suffered the tough-luck loss, going three innings, allowing four runs on three hits, four walks and three strikeouts.

At Dieterich
Dieterich had 14 hits and came out a 12-2 winner over Odin/Patoka/Sandoval in six innings Monday.
The Movin' Maroons held a 4-1 first inning lead then added on single runs in the first and sixth and three each in the third and fourth innings.
Dieterich was led in hitting by Noah Dill with three singles and an RBI, Lucas Westendorf with two singles and four RBI, Pete Britton had a single and double. Braden Shadel with two singles and two RBI and Kaden Iffert and Sam Hardiek with two singles and an RBI each.
Garrett Niebrugge threw the two-hitter allowing two runs, one earned, giving up five walks and striking out seven.

At Newton
Newton High School took the early lead and went on for a 6-3 victory over Red HIll (Bridgeport) despite being outhit by a 9-4 count Monday.
The Eagles held a 1-0 opening inning lead. Red Hill tied in the top of the second but the Eagles scored a run in the bottom of the frame, then had two-run innings in the third and fifth.
Gage Reynolds led the way for Newton with a single, home run and three RBI. Isaac Flowers and Ben Meinhart added a single each. Flowers had an RBI.
Owen Mahaffey went 6.2 innings allowing three runs on nine hits, two walks while striking out six for the win on the mound.
