BSE, CHBC Win In EIC Tourney; Bulldogs Beat Woodlawn

VANDALIA -- Brownstown/St. Elmo and Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City picked up second victories in the Egyptian-Illini Conference Baseball Tournament Wednesday. That puts the two teams against each other today for the championship as both are 2-0 in the round robin tourney.

CHBC edged Mulberry Grove, 8-7. The Bobcats took a 1-0 opening inning lead then tacked on two in the second. Mulberry Grove moved ahead 6-4 in the third and led 7-5 going into the seventh.

The Bobcats came back with three runs in the bottom of the seventh to claim the victory.

CHBC had 10 hits led by J. Doty with a single, double and two RBI, C. Wojcik with a single, double and one RBI, J. Robertson with two singles, G. Lorton with a double and two RBI and Q. Schlanser with a double and an RBI.

In the opener, Brownstown/St. Elmo took a first inning lead and ended this contest in the fifth with a 14-0 win over Ramsey.

BSE banged out 12 hits in the contest led by Brady Maxey and Dalton Myers with a home run and two RBI each. Jarrett Pasley had a single, triple and an RBI while Adam Atwood and Nick Nelson had a double and an RBI each. Wyatt Chandler and Wyatt Stine had two singles and two RBI each. Lukas Miller added a single and an RBI.

Pasley went all five innings allowing no runs on three hits, four walks and five strikeouts.

The tourney ends today with Mulberry Grove against Ramsey at 4:15 followed by BSE and CHBC meeting at 7.

At Woodlawn

Effingham St. Anthony easily handled Woodawn to the tune of 18-0 in four innings Wednesday.

The Bulldogs stepped out to a 6-0 opening inning lead then tacked on two in the second, one in the third and finished out with nine in the fourth.

St. Anthony had 19 hits in the contest that included six doubles. Will Hoene had two singles, a double and two RBI, Angelo Mendalla had three singles and an RBI, Brody Niebrugge and Eli Link had a single, double and an RBI each, Brock Fearday three singles and three RBI, Eli Levitt a double and two RBI, Samuel Link a double and an RBI and Colton Fearday a double.

Levitt picked up the win on the mound, going one inning with two strikeouts. The Bulldogs had three other pitchers go an inning each.
