Sacred Heart, St. A, T-town Win Regional Baseball Titles

Effingham Sacred Heart claimed the Class 1A Oblong Baseball Regional.
Effingham Sacred Heart defeated Dieterich, 6-5 to win the Class 1A Oblong Regional championship Monday.
The Shamrocks started the scoring with two runs in the first inning on a Borries home run. Sacred Heart added a single run in the second on a double by William Hecht.
Dieterich then tallied four runs in the third on two hits, an error and a hit batsman. They followed up in the fourth with one more run on three hits. Sacred Heart came back in the top of the fifth with two runs on a Jude Traub home run with Borries on base with a single.
The teams were tied at the end of seven and went into extra innings. Jacob Warner shut down Dieterich hitters and Traub caught one stealing in the top of the eighth. In the bottom fo the eighth, Michael Wright reached base after being hit by a pitch. He made it to second on an Oliver Kreke single to left field. Dieterich attempted a pickoff at second base and an errant throw made it past the centerfielder allowing Wright to reach home on a clsoe play at the plate for the victory.
Sacred Heart advances to play Saturday at the North Clay Sectional and faces Effingham St. Anthony at 11 a.m.

Class 1A Sigel St. Michael Regional
Effingham St. Anthony blanked Neoga, 8-0 in Monday action to win the St. Michael Regional championship.
The Bullpups stepped out to a 2-0 first inning lead then tacked on two more in the second, one in the fourth and three in the fifth behind a 12-hit attack.
Aiden Lauritzen led the way in the hitting department with two singles, two doubles and an RBI while Henry Brent had a home run and two RBI. Hayden Bushur and Miles Waldhoff added two singles each. Keenan Griffith and Will Bierman had a single and an RBI each.
Neoga was led by White with two singles.
St. Anthony's Brent went six innings for the win, allowing two hits, two walks while striking out nine.
The Bullpups now travel to the North Clay Sectional Saturday to face Sacred Heart at 11 a.m.

Class 2A Teutopolis Regional
Teutopolis handed Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg an 11-3 loss to win the Class 2A Teutopolis Regional championship Monday.
The Shoes had a six run second inning and tallied five in the sixth. Gavin Addis was the winner on the mound, going all seven innings, allowing three runs on two hits, no walks while striking out 11.
Kreke had two doubles and drove in five runs while Bloemer had a single and two RBI. Buening and Probst had a single and an RBI each.
The Wooden Shoes now head to the Class 2A Teutopolis Sectional Saturday to face Lawrenceville Parkview at 11 a.m.
