North Clay Wins Own Cardinal Classic, Baseball Roundup

LOUISVILLE -- North Clay (Louisville) captured the championship of its own baseball classic Saturday.

In the opening contest, North Clay handed Neoga a 15-1 loss.

In the second game, T-town bounced Altamont, 12-2. The Wooden Shoes held a 5-1 lead in the second inning then added two in the fourth and five in the fifth.

The Shoes had 12 hits led by Mitch Althoff and Logan Roepke with two singles, a double and three RBI each. Dylan Pruemer added a double and three RBI.

Altamont was led by Tyler Robbins with a single and double and Wyatt Phillips with a double and an RBI.

Altamont came back in the third game, downing Neoga, 10-5.

Both teams had 10 hits. The winners were led by Jared Hammer with two singles, a double and an RBI, Tyler Robbins with a single, double and an RBI, Logan Cornett with three singles and three RBI and Mason Robinson with two singles.

Neoga was led by Kaden Young with a single, double and two RBI, Brady Reynolds, Luke Romack and Trey Sheehan with two singles each. Reynolds had an RBI.

North Clay then claimed the championship with a 6-4 victory over Teutopolis.

The Cardinals stepped out to a 3-0 first inning lead. T-town tied in the top of the second. North Clay then scored one in the fourth. The Wooden Shoes tied in the top of the sixth and North Clay scored two in the bottom of the frame for the win.

Collyn Ballard had a single and double while Donnie Zimmerman and Holden Clifton had a double and an RBI each. Logan Fleener added two singles and two RBI and Carson Burkett wo singles.

Clifton picked up the win on the mound going all seven innings allowing six hits, no walks while striking out three.

At Kinmundy

South Central blanked Cobden, 13-0 in five innings Saturday via the 10-run rule.

The Cougars tallied three in the opening inning then tacked on nine in the third and one in the fourth.

A. Buonaura wielded the big bat for South Central with two doubles, a home run and six RBI. B. Jolliff added a double and three RBI and A. Dodson two singles and an RBI.

South Central handed Wayne City a 15-0 loss in four innings via the 10-run rule.

The Cougars ran off to an 11-0 first inning lead and added on four more in the second.

B. Jolliff went three innings, allowing no hits while walking two and striking out seven for the win.

C. Thompson had two singles and two RBI while B. Jolliff had a double and three RBI. S. Johannes added two singles and two RBI and A. Magnus had three RBI.

At Kinmundy

At Strasburg

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg scored two victories in Saturday play.

The Hatchets blanked Mulberry Grove, 10-0 behind an 11-hit attack.

Gavin Wernsing led the way with a double, home run and two RBI while Tyler Wetherell had three singles and an RBI, Austin Wittenberg a single, double and an RBI and Graham Kasey two singles.

WSS tallied a 3-2 win over Putnam County in a game that went 10 innings.

The Hatchets held a 1-0 lead in the second inning. Putnam County tied in the top of the fourth but WSS came back to move ahead 2-1 in the bottom of the frame.

Putnam County tied at 2-2 in the top of the seventh. The game went into the 10th when Tyler Wetherell hit a walk-off home run for the victory.

J. Wittenberg had two singles while Rhett Rincker added a single and an RBI.
