Windsor/Stew-Stras Edges Altamont in Wild Finish Friday

Windsor/Stew-Stras scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to edge Altamont 5-4 in National Trail Conference action Friday.
The game was tied 1-1 when Windsor/Stew-Stras scored twice in the bottom of the sixth inning to move ahead 3-1.
Altamont then scored three times in the top of the seventh to take a 4-3 lead, but Windsor/Stew-Stras scored the two runs in the bottom of the frame to capture the one-run win.
S. Vonderheide led the Hatchets attack going two-for-four and driving in two runs. Gavan Wernsing drove in a run, and Wetherell, Morris and Rincker each had a hit. Morris got the win with three innings of relief, allowing three runs on five hits, walking one and fanning four batters. Kasey had started and went four innings, allowing just one run on two hits with four walks and five strikeouts.
For Altamont: Jared Hammer went three-for-four at the top of the order including a home run and scored twice. Mason Robinson had two hits and a walk, scored a run and drove in two runs. Wyatt Phillips singled and walked and drove in a run, Mason Winn walked, Logan Cornett singled, and Elam scored a run. Robinson went 5-2/3 innings for the Indians, allowing three runs, two earned, on three hits, walking four and striking out eight. After a reliever picked up another out, Mason Winn got two strikeouts but gave up two hits and two walks and two unearned runs that gave the Hatchets the win.
