Former New York Yankees star shortstop and captain Derek Jeter led the class of 2020 that was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame Wednesday in a ceremony that was delayed by more than year due to the pandemic.

A crowd of some 20,000 was on hand in Cooperstown, New York, for the event, at which Larry Walker, Ted Simmons and the late Marvin Miller were also inducted.

Walker, just the second Canadian in the Hall, was selected in his 10th and final year, and the 72-year-old Simmons afte a 21-year career. Miller built a strong players union, which he led from 1966 to 1983, and led the charge for free agency in the 1970s.
