Effingham Sacred Heart played host to Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City in junior high baseball action and claimed a 10-6 victory Tuesday.

The Shamrocks edged out to a 2-0 opening inning lead then had single runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings and five in the sixth.

Traub led the way for the winners with a single, double and an RBI while Kreke had two singles and Borries a single and two RBI.

CHBC was led by Carter Dilley with a double and three RBI and Clive Schlanser with a single and two RBI.

Effingham picked up a 3-1 victory over Mattoon in Tuesday play.

The Mustangs tallied all three runs in the fifth inning. Wade Bushur was the winner on the mound, allowing only one batter to reach base.

Max Flack had a single and a double while Will Moser had a single and two RBI and Bushur a single and an RBI.

Effingham St. Anthony blanked Charleston 5-0 in Tuesday play.

The Bullpups took a 2-0 first inning lead then added on three more in the fourth.

St. Anthony had seven hits led by A. Lauritzen with two singles and two RBI. M. Clark and H. Brent added a single and an RBI each.

Brent picked up the win, going all seven innings allowing three walks while striking out 11.

South Central blanked Centralia, 9-0 in Tuesday play.

South Central had 10 hits led by Hudson Moore with two singles, a double and two RBI, Chase Guerrattaz with two singles, a double and an RBI and Colt Cartright with two singles and an RBI.

Guerrettaz went 3.2 innings allowing no runs on four hits, no walks and four strikeouts for the win on the mound.

C. McManaway threw a three-inning no-hitter allowing four walks while striking out five.

K. Milleville had two singles, a double and two RBI for the Rockets while B. Schnarre had two singles and two RBI, B. Elam a double and three RBI, C. Pals a double and McManaway a single and two RBI. K. Wolff added a single and an RBI.

North Clay fell to Casey-Westfield, 9-4. The Indians are now 4-7 on the season.

North Clay is back in action Thursday at Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg in a 4:30 p.m. contest.

 

At Sigel

Sigel St. Michael ended this contest against Ramsey in the third inning, 15-0 Tuesday.

The Sharpshooters had 13 hits led by Bryce Niebrugge with three singles and two RBI, Alex Mayer with two singles and an RBI, Shawn Hoene with two singles and two RBI, Lincoln Dittamore with two singles and Victor Walk with a single and two RBI.

Walk went only one inning to claim the win on the mound, walking one and striking out two.
