Dieterich, St. A, T-town, S. Central, Neoga, N. Clay Capture Baseball Wins

ALTAMONT -- Dieterich High School took the early lead then had to fend off Altamont to pull out a 6-5 National Trail Conference baseball victory Tuesday on a game heard on 979 XFM.

The Indians edged out to a 1-0 first inning lead. Mason Robinson's sacrifice fly scored the run.

The score stayed that way through the next four innings before Dieterich broke loose with four runs in the sixth. Braden Shadle, Sam Hardiek and Shawn Crutcher each had RBIs in the big inning. Shadle and Crutcher had a double each. Shadle drove in one run and Crutcher two in the game. Noah Dill finished with two singles.

Altamont came back to knot the score at 5-5 in the bottom of the seventh on singles by Wyatt Phillips and Kienon Eirhart, a ground out by Robinson and a double by Tyler Robbins.

Dieterich then won it in the top of the eighth. The No. 9 hitter drew a walk and Dill followed with a single. Pete Britton hit a grounder to short and the Indians got a force at second and threw to first for a double play but Britton beat the throw and the runner at second came home on a throwing error.

Garrett Niebrugge was on the pitcher's mound for the Maroons. He surrendered one run on five hits over five and a third innings, striking out six.

Altamont had 10 hits led by Jared Hammer with a single and two doubles, Kienon Eirhart with two singles and an RBI, Dillan Elam with two singles, Robbins with a double and an RBI and Robinson with two RBI.

At St. Anthony

Effingham St. Anthony tallied single runs in the first and sixth and that's all it took in a 2-0 win over Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg Tuesday.

Both teams had three hits but WSS finished with two errors.

Leading the Bulldogs were Angelo Mendella and Brody Niebrugge with a double each and Will Hoene with two RBI.

WSS had singles from Sam Vonderheide, Jordan Wittenberg and Graham Kasey.

At Woodlawn

Teutopolis pounded out 10 hits and scored a 16-0 victory over Woodlawn Tuesday.

The Wooden Shoes were led by Sam Bushur with a single, home run and two RBI, Kayden Althoff with a single, double and three RBI, Caleb Bloemer with two singles and two RBI, Mitch Althoff with two singles and an RBI, Max Niebrugge with a single and two RBI and Brayden Gaddis and Dylan Pruemer with two RBI each.

Derek Konkel went four innings on the mound for the win, allowing no runs on one hit, no walks and striking out 10. Ben Goeckner went the final inning with one strikeout.

T-town improves to 2-5 and Woodlawn fell to 0-5. The Shoes are back in action Saturday at Okaw Valely vs. Putnam County at noon and North Clay at 4.

South Central ran off to a 10-0 first inning lead and endedt his game in the fourth by a 15-0 count over Brownstown/St. Elmo Thursday.

The Cougars had 11 hits in the contest while BSE finished with five errors.

Dodson was the winning pitcher, throwing a no-hitter with one walk and 10 strikeouts.

BSE drops to 1-3 in the National Trail Conference, 5-3 overall and is back in action Thursday against Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran.

At Neoga

Four Neoga pitchers combined to throw a no-hitter as the Indians blanked Ramsey, 14-0 in five innings Tuesday.

Kaden Young threw in the first inning and garnered the victory allowing no hits, no walks and stirking out two. Will O'Dell ptiched in the second inning allowing one walk and striking out one. James Ballinger came on in the third and went two innings allowing one walk and striking out four. J. Gentry finished out with one strikeout.

Neoga had 14 hits led by Young with a single, triple and two RBI, Ryan Koester with two singles and three RBI, Trey Sheehan with two singles and two RBI and Quintin Richards and Luke Romack with a single and two RBI each.

North Clay is now 4-0 in the National Trail Conference, 8-0 overall and returns to action Thursday against Webber Township (Bluford).
