Altamont Sweeps Baseball Doubleheader With T-town

The Indians took a 12-4 opening win on a game heard on KJ Country 102.3.
Altamont scored six runs in the second inning. Wyatt Phillips started the frame with a single, took second on a passed ball and ended up scoring on an error. Logan Cornett drew a walk and Mason Winn followed with a single. With one out, Nathan Stuemke reached on a fielder's choice that scored a run. Hayden Siebert drew a walk to load the bases.
With two outs, Mason Robinson came to the plate and knocked out a grand slam that cleared the bases.
The lead went to 7-0 in the top of the third as Cornett singled and came home on a single by Stuemke.
The Wooden Shoes had two runners on in the second, both on walks. Max Niebrugge reached in the third inning on a single and Sam Bushur was hit by a pitch. But the Indians got out of the frame
Altamont tallied a run in the fourth as Tyler Robbins and Phillips had back-to-back doubles with Phililps garnering the RBI.
T-town finally dented the plate in the bottom of the fourth. Derek Konkel led off with a double and an error allowed him to reach third. Logan Roepke followed with a single that scored Konkel.
In the fifth, the Wooden Shoes struck again with two runs to pull within 8-3. With two outs, Mitch Althoff reached on an error and Kayden Althoff followed with a home run.
Altamont taliled two more in the sixth and two more in the seventh. In the sixth, Jared Hammer drew a walk and Robinson followed with a single. A ground out by Robbins produced an RBI. Phillips was hit by a pitch. Cornett then picked up his second single and drove home a run.
In the seventh, Stuemke drew a walk as did Hammer. Robinson followed with his third hit of the game, a single. A sacrifice by Robbins brought home a run.
The Indians finished with 10 hits in the contest while T-town had seven.
Robbins picked up the win for Altamont, going five innings, allowing three runs on five hits, two walks and three strikeouts.
Altamont then claimed the second contest, 14-8. The Indians held a 5-1 first inning lead but T-town came back to pull within 7-6 in the second.
The Indians then tacked on four runs in the third and one in the fifth before T-town scored two in the sixth to trail 12-8. Altamont tacked on two insurance runs in the seventh.
Altamont had 13 hits in this contest and was aided by seven Wooden Shoes errors. Hammer had a single, double, home run and five RBI while Elam had a single, double and two RBI. Stuemke added two singles and an RBI, Klimpel and Aden McManaway two singles each.
Dillan Elam was the winner on the mound going 4.1 innings, allowing six runs on three hits, four walks and seven strikeouts.
Altamont improves to 4-0 on the season and is back in action Thursday hosting Ramsey.
T-town dropped to 1-5 and returns to competition today at Woodlawn.
