SIGEL -- Effingham St. Anthony came calling and blanked Sigel St. Michael in junior high baseball action Saturday, 10-0.

 

The Bullpups had seven hits in the game. K. Griffith had two singles and three RBI while D. Brown and M. Clark had a single and two RBI each.

St. Michael was led by Alex Mayer and Davin Worman with a single each.

At Sigel

At Effingham

Effingham split victories in its own invitational Saturday.

In game one, Jasper County edged the Mustangs, 10-8. Effingham took a 2-0 first inning lead. Jasper County tallied seven in the second but Effingham knotted the score in the bottom of the frame with five runs. Jasper County then scored three in the fourth.

Bushur led Effingham with a single and triple while Flack had two doubles and an RBI, Tucker a single, double and an RBI and Fearday two singles and two RBI.

In the second game, Effingham was a 5-1 winner over Sullivan. Bushur threw a one-hitter with one unearned run.

The Mustangs held a 1-0 first inning lead and added on four in the second. Sullivan scored its lone run in the fourth.

Bushur had a single and triple while Flack and Tucker had a double and an RBI each. Meltabarger had two singles.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis edged out to a 1-0 first inning lead and never looked back in an 8-2 win over Jasper County Friday.

The Wooden Shoes had 13 hits in the contest led by Ross Bloemer with a single, 2 doubles and three RBI, Jason Kreke with a single, double and an RBI, Gavin Addis with three singles and an RBI, Isaac McWhorter with a triple and Inman Schmidt with a double.

Jasper County had three hits led by Brock Anderson with two singles and an RBI.

Addis was the winning pitcher going two innings allowing no runs, no hits, no walks and striking out two.

At Beecher City

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City fell to Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg 18-6 in a Friday contest.

CHBC held a 1-0 first inning lead but WSS came back with an 11-run second and ended the game, 18-6 in the fifth.

WSS had eight hits led by Pruemer with a single, double and an RBI, Oliver Wascher with a double and two RBI. Spour had a single and two RBI.

CHBC was led by Clive Schlanser and Isaac Miller with a single each. Vaughn added an RBI while Kale Hardimon had an RBI.

CHBC then headed to Greenville Saturday and played two games.

In the opener, CHBC fell to host Greenville, 10-3. The score was tied at 3-3 after four innings but Greenville scored two in the fifth and five in the sixth.

CHBC had seven hits in the contest led by Clive Schlanser with two singles and Connor Vaughn and Remington Howell with a single and an RBI each.

In the second game, Connor Vaughn threw a no-hitter in the five inning contest and CHBC was a 10-0 winner.

CHBC had 12 hits led by August Cosat with a soloe home run, Clive Schlanser and Porter Lilly with two singles and two RBI each. Kale Hardimon had two singles and an RBI and Kendrick Stoldt two singles.

Altamont handed Brownstown/St. Elmo a 12-2 loss in Friday play while BSE fell to the Braves in a Saturday game.

Atamont tallied six in the second, four in the fourth and two in the fifth behind six hits ane nine BSE errors.

J. Childerson was the winning pitcher going 3.2 innings allowing two runs on four hits and one walk.

J. Bauer had two singles and two RBI for the winners while K. Beccue had two singles.

D. Rogers led BSE with two singles and an RBI.

At Altamont

At Kinmundy

South Central hosted Franklin Park Friday and claimed an 8-2 victory.

South Central led 1-0 after the first then pulled away with a four-run third inning. 

The winners had five hits led by Luke Shumate with two singles and an RBI and Ryker Dodson with two RBI.

In Saturday games, South Central edged Cisne, 2-1. Cisne held a 1-0 lead after the first inning and held that until the fifth when South Central tallied two runs to pull out the victory.

G. Shumate had two singles while Guerrettaz had a triple that drove in both runs for the win. Guerrettaz toed the rubber for the Falcons and surrendered one run on one hit over 2 1/2 innings, striking out six.

In the second contest Saturday, Cotl Cartright threw a shutout to lead the Falcons past Patoka/Odin, 12-0 in four innings.

South Central again had the big offense with 10 hits while Cartright kept the Mohawks off balance allowing only one hit, two walks and striking out seven.

For the Falcons, Trevyn Sidwell had two doubles and drove in three runs while Guerrettaz had a single, double and an RBI and Sebastian Krugera  double and an RBI. Hudson Moore had two RBI and Kaiden Harrel a single and two RBI.

At Kinmundy
