Bulldogs Outlast Wooden Shoes, 16-12

The Wooden Shoes struck in the first inning taking a 4-0 lead. With one out, Mitch Althoff singled and Kayden Althoff was hit by a pitch. Derek Konkel walked to load the bases. Logan Roepke and Dylan Pruemer had back-to-back doubles to clear the bases.
The Bulldogs finally got untracked in the second inning, scoring to move ahead 5-4. Brody Niebrugge reached base on an error. Will Hoene followed with a double that scored Niebrugge. Eli Levitt drew a walk. Max Koenig was the second out in the frame but his grounder scored a run. Brock Jansen drew a walk and Angelo Mendella singled home a run. Eli LInk then doubled home two runs.
T-town tied the score at 5-5 in the bottom of the second on a double by Sam Bushur, a walk to M. Althoff and a sacrifice by K. Althoff that brought Bushur home.
The Bulldogs again moved ahead with a run in the top of the third only to see T-town tie in the bottom of the frame. Hoene singled with one out, took second on a wild pitch and third on another wild pitch. He came home on a double by Levitt.
T-town tied when Pruemer was hit by a pitch, stole second and came home on a single by Cade Buehnerkemper.
Things were relatively quiet in the fourth. St. Anthony then broke the game open with six runs in the fifth. In the inning, Niebrugge and Hoene singled. The Wooden Shoes then had five errors. The Bulldogs scored two more in the top of the sixth on three walks and a two-run scoring single by Mendella.
T-town scored three in the bottom of the sixth on two walks and an RBI double by Konkel and an RBI single by Pruemer T-town still trailed 14-9 going into the seventh.
St. Anthony tallied two more in the seventh on two walks and a double by Niebrugge. T-town tallied three in the bottom of the seventh on singles by Buehnerkemper, Luke Koester and Bushur. K. Althoff doubled home a run but the Bulldogs finally ended the game on a strikeout and a ground out.
The Bulldogs finished with 10 hits led by Mendella with three singles and five RBI, Niebrugge and Hoene with a single, double and an RBI each, Link with a double and two RBI and Levitt with a double and an RBI. Koenig had two RBI.
T-town had 11 hits led by Pruemer with a single, double and three RBI, Bushur with a single, double and an RBI, Konkel and Roepke with double and two RBI each, Buehnerkemper with two singles and an RBI and K. Althoff with a single and two RBI.
Three pitchers took the mound for St. Anthony with Brock Fearday picking up the win going 3.2 innings, allowing six runs on five hits, three walks and two strikeouts. The Wooden Shoes gave up 10 hits and nine walks.
T-town drops to 0-2 and will be back in action today hosting Neoga.
St. Anthony improved to 3-0 and will host Altamont Friday.
