St. A, South Central, N. Clay Nab High School Baseball Wins

Effingham St. Anthony stepped out to a 3-0 first inning lead and never looked back in opening the high school baseball season by blanking Mulberry Grove 10-0 in five innings Wednesday.

The Bulldogs had five hits in the contest led by Angelo Mendella with a double and an RBI and Eli Link with two singles and an RBI. Brody Niebrugge and Will Hoene added a single and an RBI each.

Eli Levitt picked up the pitching win, going two innings,allowing no runs on no hits, no walks while striking out six.

Mulberry Grove finished with one hit and had eight errors in the contest.

At Wayne City

South Central tallied a 14-0 win over Wayne City in six innings via the 10-run rule Wednesday.

The Cougars had nine hits in the contest led by E. Dunn with a single, home run and four RBI, B. Jolliff with a double, home run and two RBI and A. Dodson with a home run and two RBI. A. Magnus added two singles and two RBI.

S. Johannes was the winner on the mound, going two innings, allowing no runs on one hit, one walk and striking out six.

At Louisville

North Clay (Louisville) defeated Odin, 13-0. The game was the season-opener for the Cardinals.

North Clay is back in action Tuesday at Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg in a 4:30 p.m. contest.
