Effingham Sacred Heart had a decisive win over Neoga in junior high baseball action Tuesday, 12-2.

Austin Borries, Freddie Jansen and Michael Wright combined to hold Neoga to two runs while striking out nine and allowing only two walks.

The Shamrocks jumped on top in the third with six runs on a string of hits from William Hecht, Oliver Kreke, Austin Borries, Jude Traub and Michael Wright. The Indians scored a run in the bottom of the frame on a pair of hits from Matusus and K. White. Matusus scored again in the fifth inning after reaching on a walk and advancing on a pair of wild pitches from the Sharmocks' Michael Wright.

The Shamrocks came up with four more runs in the sixth led by a walk to Jacob Warner and hits from Dominic Weiglos and Austin Borries.

Jacob Warner, William Hecht and Weiglos added hits in the seventh to tally the final two runs.

Sacred Heart finished with 13 hits. Hecht, Borries, Traub and Weiglos each managed multipel hits. Hecht went three-for-three with two singles and a triple.

At Neoga

At Dieterich

Dieterich banged out 13 hits and tallied a 10-3 victory over Jasper County Tuesday.

Dieterich edged out to a 2-1 opening inning lead then had a four-run second, a three-run third and tallied a single run in the fifth.

Hall and Ashley led the way in the hitting department. Hall had a single and two doubles while Ashley had three singles and five RBI. Also garnering big hits were Meinhart with two doubles and three RBI and Meyer with two singles and an RBI.

Jasper County tallied nine hits led by Drake Wolf and Nolan Cleaver with a double each and Hayden Mulvey and Dominic Baltzell with two singles each. Mulvey added an RBI.

Jasper County claimed a 9-8 win in Monday action over Cumberland. The win came in eight innings.

Jasper County dropped to 3-1 on the season and will be back in action Thursday at Teutopolis for a B game and Friday at Oblong.

Mattoon took a 3-0 first inning lead and went on to beat Teutopolis 6-2 in Tuesday action.

Mattoon had seven hits while the Wooden Shoes had five.

T-town's two runs came in the third inning. Jason Kreke led the Shoes with a single, double and an RBI.

At Pana

Pana claimed a 10-0 win over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Tuesday. The game ended in the fifth via the 10-run rule.

Pana had five hits and was aided by six CHBC errors.

CHBC had two hits, singles by August Cosart and Griffin Vaughn.

At Centralia

North Clay (Louisville) defeated Centralia by a 5-3 count Tuesday.

North Clay is now 1-1 on the season and returns to action today hosting Dieterich at 4:30 p.m.

 

At Newton

Newton St. Thomas downed Palestine, 21-11 Tuesday afternoon.

St. Thomas led 2-0 after the first but trailed 6-2 after Palestine scored in the second. The Saints unloaded for 10 runs in the bottom of the second and never looked back.

Carson Barthelme, Alex Gier and Gavin Meinhart led the Saints' 18-hit attack with three hits apiece. Gier had two RBI while Meinhart had three.

St. Thomas improves to 1-1 on the season and returns Friday to host Sigel St. Michael.
