Yankees Finalizing Deal To Acquire Joey Gallo; Cubs, Cardinals Lose

The New York Yankees are finalizing a deal to acquire two-time All-Star outfielder Joey Gallo from the Texas Rangers, according to media reports Wednesday night, pending a medical review.

 

Pitcher Joely Rodriguez will also go to New York, and Texas will get four minor leaguers in return, according to ESPN.

 

Nationals-Phillies Game Postponed

The Major League Baseball’s Washington Nationals-Philadelphia Phillies game scheduled for Wednesday night was postponed after four Nationals players and eight staffers tested positive for Covid-19.

Washington manager Dave Martinez said the four players had either no or mild symptoms and all but one was vaccinated.

 

Franmil Reyes Nearly Hits Cyclist

Cleveland's Franmil Reyes hit two home runs as the Indians downed St. Louis, 7-2 Wednesday.

Reyes connected in the second inning on a homer that headed out of Progressive Field and almost hit a bicyclist pedaling on the street near the park. The ball went an estimated 446 feet.

Reyes then hit another shot in the third. Also homering for the Indians were Cesar Hernandez and Jose Ramirez.
